Who in here has seen the movies "Airplane!" and "Airplane II: The Sequel"?

Surely you can't be serious?
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

I saw a small part of Airplane II and it has some funny, silly jokes in it.

Somebody says "...down safe" and a safe falls down! :D

There are a lot of parallel moments between the two movies:

For example:

The announcement that causes panic

AP1: "Does anyone here know how to fly a plane?"
AP2: "We are completely out of coffee"

Striker's flashback

AP1: The Vietnam War flashback
AP2: His incompetence trial

This formula is much more prevalent in the Naked Gun movies

I especially got a kick out of the fact that the guy who played the psychiatrist in Airplane II was the same guy who played Dean Wormer in Animal House.

Airplane is the best. Although they are both equally good.

"Surely you can't be serious."
"I am serious, and stop calling my Shirley."

Fine piece of comedy it is.

Airplane 1 was better, because it had Leslie Nielsen.

Airplane II is nothing more than the original rehashed. Same jokes, actors, and everything.

Of course, I also just recently realized the humor in this exchange from the sequel.

(After Striker is sentenced to a mental hospital)
"Reporter": How about a picture for the Daily News?
Striker's Lawyer: All right.
(The lawyer gives the guy a picture, and receives a copy of the Daily News.)

Airplane

"I picked a bad week to quit smoking"
"I picked a bad week to quit drinking"
"I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue"
-------------------------------------------------
Airplane Two the Sequel
Courtroom scene:
"Doctor. Could you give us your impression of Mr. Stryker?"
"I'm sorry I don't do impressions."

David Zucker and Jim Abrahams are comic guniuses.

I don't know if anyone knows this but Airplane is a satire parody of the 1970 or 1971 film Airport. :D

It was a spoof of both Airport and Zero Hour, and disaster movies in general.

Incidentally, Leslie Nielsen was in the original Poseidon Adventure (1972), back when he was still doing serious roles. Airplane! was his first comedic role.
