why is Wolverine named that? what is the resemblance?

P.S. i know that originally he was supposed to be a mutated wolverine, so please don't give me that answer

I'd say the same is pretty fitting. A wolverine is a small animal with claws and a ferocious strength disproportionate to its size.

The graphic novel "Wolverine: Origins" explains that and other things, like who he is and exactly how old he is.

Pretty much this, yeah. He was short, dangerous out of all proportion to his size, and clawed, like his Canadian namesake.
