If Enterprise had been like season 4 from the start (no temporal cold war/Xindi), concentrating on TOS mythos and the build-up to the Earth/Romulan war it would have been great!

When it was on TV, I was very disappointed in the show and stopped watching about halfway through season 3. However, I decided to give Enterprise another chance since it’s on Netflix…

Other than a few bright spots (episodes dealing with the Vulcan/Andorian conflict) the first three season were pretty bad in my view. BUT, once they got past the “Space Nazis” at the beginning of season 4—well, it was like a completely different show!

The storylines involving forging the Human/Vulcan/Andorian/Tellerite alliance were well done and as good as anything from DS9. I also enjoyed the other story arcs concerning the augments/Klingons (pretty ingenious explanation for human-looking Klingons), the Orion “Slave Women” and the mirror universe episodes.

It’s too bad Enterprise couldn’t have been like season 4 from the start. The whole temporal cold war/Xindi thing was a huge mistake--the show could have been great if they’d built upon TOS mythos from the start, and concentrated on the run-up to the Earth/Romulan war…

I think they were scared off of that because of all the continuity-fanatics in the fandom. It’s really a shame. Enterprise could have been the best Trek series.

That’s my take anyway…

I'm one of those piles of cartilage that actually enjoy the Xindi storyarc, but season 4 was the best season.

it's nothing compared to DS9 though, season 5 to 7 of DS9 was some of the best TV I'd ever seen, and it's finale is one of two finales to have made me get a little teary (the other being the Babylon 5 finale).

Yeah, I kind of quit "Enterprise" because it ended up conflicting with another show that took my interest...

Good to know it's available on Netflix!

I think the whole thing just got too confusing for me to be interested continuously...

The only other SF series derived from a franchise that tanked more quickly was Stargate Universe. It focused too much on personal angst, and not enough on character-driven adventure plots.

I like Enterprise, especially seasons 3 and 4 but I will admit the other Star Treks are way better.
