Wow, flashback to the 80's.
I remember that show. I was in my early teens when it was on. I'd watch it if I was really bored.

Ah, yes. Back in the days before Nickelodeon had their own original programming.

I used to watch that on Nickelodeon at my grandma's house.

Yes indeed.

In fact, a few years back, I decided to watch some of the episodes again on Youtube; to my surprise, they still hold up really well.

I then found some of the former cast members on Facebook, and contacted them, letting them know how much I enjoyed watching it as a kid, and how great I still think the show is years later.

It got Jeff Hyslop to watch it again, and even he was impressed with how well it still holds up.

That's really cool. 8) His choreography was really great--I'm glad he can still see that. :)

I like it, too - I think it's cute and very well done. I've seen a couple of the episodes on Youtube - the one where Muffy gets "mouse tonsillitis" and has to go to the Children's Hospital, the "Hello Friend" episode, and the "Phil's Visit" episode. The "Phil's Visit" ep actually hit kind of close to home for me bcuz I've been in the same situation as Muffy at least a couple of times, but I'm glad I watched it, and I'm glad they were raising awareness of alcohol addiction at the time and reassuring kids that it was not their fault.

I really wish they'd bring shows like this back, for today's generation and for the folks who grew up with it to share with their kids.

I just recently watched those episodes myself. :) "Hello Friend" led me to look up the Blissymbols system.

No, here's the coolest thing: this show is so well written, they've even inserted really toned down jokes that are geared to adults; and they work!

It really is an incredible show.

I wish I knew of the merchandise that was made for this show. Goddamn how I want a Sam Krenschaw PVC.

 I wanted a Muffy doll when I was growing up. I also wished I had a computer that talked like TXL.

Every time I entered a department store, I would look at the mannequins very closely....

I wouldn't mind a Muffy doll, either...she's awfully cute. :3

I always looked at mannequins very carefully myself, when I was young....when I was little, practically everything seemed "alive" to me...Cars, museum sculptures, stuffed animals, everything...and to me, mannequins were real people. Not so much in the sense that you sense one in your peripheral vision, do a double take, and then say, "Oh, I thought it was a real peron!" but in the sense that they had feelings, emotions, etc.

OMG, I was obsessed with this show when I was a kid. I even wrote fan letters to PBS and got myself a Today's Special poster and a pack of stickers. I was equally obsessed with Zoobilee Zoo. Anyone else here watch that?

I started recognizing Ben Vereen later on because of his appearance in this show (and THE MUPPET SHOW).

Today's Special was fun. Pinwheel was fun too but in a simpler way.
