Why I think Generator Rex is better than Ben 10
This is coming from a 24 year old guy going on 25 who spends his time watching cartoons new and old. Also I'm not really a huge mega obsessed fan of these 2 shows but I do glance at them and they are pretty entertainable at times.
Ben 10, with it's 3 shows and a fourth one on the way, 3 made for tv movies and another one on the way and even a possible theatrical movie has been very popular among kids since it began in 2005(I think) and all Genearator Rex is a new show from the same guys who gave us Ben 10 that is currently in it's second season but may go somewhere. Clearly alot of people love Ben 10 more because it came first and the first is always the best. But sometimes on rare occassions the rip off or something that is from the same people as the other thing before can actually be better, but it does take time for that to happen, you have to watch more than one episode to like something better than something else.
When I was younger I was into Pokemon, and then along came Digimon which could never be as good, but after sometime I actually thought it was better because it had a better storyline, better spoken dialouge(sort of) and likeable characters. I'm also a huge fan of Family Guy and Futurama and before those 2 we had The Simpsons which is my absolute favourite TV Show ever(Seasons 1 to probably 16, skip 17 and maybe 18 and the movie was good too), but both Family Guy(rip off) and Futurama(from the creators of The Simpsons) almost beat The Simpsons and also South Park.
Anyway lets talk about Ben 10 and Generator Rex. The original Ben 10 wasn't anything special but it was pretty good, it had a few good one liners, a few likable characters and a couple of good stories to tell. Alien Force was pretty good at least for the first 2 seasons, but the 3rd season and Ultimate Alien were kinda mixed for me. Generator Rex is kinda different from Ben 10, when you look at the original series it's the type of cartoon thats cartoony but when you look at Alien Force and Ultimate Alien they still have humor but are not as cartoony. Generator Rex is kinda a combination of both, instead of the main character being a 10 year old going on 15-16, he's already a rebellious teen. The show itself is a bit more cartoony than Ben 10 beacause you can hear some cartoonish like noises in the background and some wacky music like in one episode when he's going up against a rabbit like evo. However it can take itself a bit more seriously like when Rex is trying to find out more about his past and ends up getting answers that kinda make him upset. With Ben he's just a kid who got lucky. He's had no past tradgity like losing his memories and finding out his parents are dead and he doesn't live in a world where an entire population of people have been infected that turn them into monsters. I have written quite too much but will write some more in the future.
I don't follow these show very closely, but I have seen a fair amount of both. Rex is like a cross between Ben 10 and Titans; it is made with a similar style but has a much greater asian influence. A dystopian future where an angsty tenn fights unspeakable mutants... seriously. Ben 10 was a much more western, humble hero-story. Also note the "actual" superheroes used in the show, which were originally an American creation (AFAIK). Also, I remember the older Ben fighting a robot made by a crazed newsman, representing McCarthy. The characters in Ben 10 were usually deeper from my perspective, whereas much of Rex's character extends from memory loss and government manipulation. Matrix much? Rex is more hip, and I believe ultimately more trite.
