The question is the following: According to the SHOW and the INTERNET, what is Rainbow Dash's sexual orientation?
I think she's either straight or bisexual.

To be completely honest I don't see a point in assigning sexualities to cartoon characters because they're just cartoon characters.

But, I do find the in joke that shes a lesbian quite entertaining XD

Is neccesary, for example Stewie Griffin from Family Guy is gay.

Sexual orientation? Rainbow Dash doesn't need a sexual orientation! She's bi-awesome! (That's like Charlie Sheen but 20% cooler)

I think of her more as a tomboy than a lesbian. :B
I think the show intended her to be a kid (around 8-10) the way the character behaves. I think she's too young to fully understand the concept of dating and sexual orientation. (And Stewie Griffin isn't really realistic because the creators of Family Guy based his behavior off a adult male rather than a child.) Come to think of it, all kids act kind of gay before hitting puberty. It's either all boys or all girls when they do activities (recess, lunch, ect) at school together. Then middle school happens, and we get more of a mixture of boy/girl teams.

I think the characters are a bit older than that. Many of them own their own houses and rarity runs her own shop lol.

I would put them in the 18 - 25 range.

However the CMC are obviously school age.

I don't seriously see them as ANYTHING. I think its quite hilarious and Tounge in cheek to call RBD a lesbian, but her character isn't really one in my opinion.

You know who I blame all this confusion? The INTERNET. The people in the internet are saying that Rainbow Dash is a lesbian, NOT LAUREN FAUST. And that pisses me off. By the way is Gilda that is, in my opinion a lesbian.

In that case all of the characters could be either gay or straight. We don't really see who they're dating. For all we know they're all gay. I still think all the characters were intended to have a child mentality since this show's target audience is for children. (And their behavior is still childlike. 18-25 year olds should know better with some of the themes in the episodes.)

Quote:
Rainbow Dash has rainbow-striped hair because of her name and because she is very interested in sports, specifically flying. She is a tomboy, but nowhere in the show is her sexual orientation ever referenced. As we all know, there are plenty of straight tomboys in the world, and assuming they are lesbians is extremely unfair to both straight and lesbian tomboys.

Lauren Faust's reaction to Ms. Magazine assuming Rainbow Dash is a lesbian because she's a tomboy. Read the full article here: http://msmagazine.com/blog/blog/2010/12 ... -rebuttal/

Okay, now I understand. But is the Internet that we have to blame. Because those people are saying that Rainbow Dash is a lesbian. And also, maybe if you haven't noticed but, half the tomboys are straight, and the other half are lesbians. One example of a straight tomboy girl is Sam Puckett, from iCarly. And don't take this the wrong way but, straight tomboy girls/women "turn me on". I'M NOT A BAD PERSON, DAMN IT!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

Tough call. Obviously the rainbow has been used to represent homosexuality but you really can't tell what Dashie is. As far as I know, Rarity is the only pony in the show that actually has a love interest (even though he's a stuck up jerk). Ah but then there's Gilda...

I don't really care anyway. They're cartoon ponies, its not really a big deal. People can think what they want. No need to get so heated up about it. I woke up this morning and saw the thread, and my reaction can be seen below. :P
