this was the best movie i've seen all year.
i don't think i blinked once.

well maybe once.

I just saw it. I loved it. I will eventually get it on DVD. This is one film worth seeing more than once. It has been compared to 2001, a Space Odyssey, which is one of my all time favorites. I went to the Internet Movie Data Base (imdb) and all of the user reviews seemed to be either 5 stars (best possible) or 1 star. People either love this film or hate it.

I am agnostic, and do not attend church, so I might have skipped it if I knew how important the Bible stories would be to the theme. I am glad I saw it, however. It is not a perfect film, but it makes you think, which is pretty rare.

I also saw Terance Malick's film "The New World." I enjoy his unique film making style.

It had wonderful cinematography, but I can certainly see the 2001 comparisions when trying (and failing) to make sense out of the story. If it scores some nominations for the big prizes at the Oscars, a repeat viewing on DVD will probably be on my to-do list.

This film deals with some big questions. I think the best way to view this film is to not try to understand what the film makers' answers are to those questions. Instead, view this film as their ruminations about the questions. Spoiler alert! If you haven't seen "The Tree of Life" do not scroll down!

One of the few things I didn't like was the ending. The obvious reference to heaven probably helped to get funding for this film. No one would invest in it otherwise. Other than this "Hollywood" ending, what I said above still holds. Granted, the film would have been a little hard to take otherwise.

My Favorite movie of the year by far. Like all of Malick's movies, the cinematography was gorgeous, but after watching it, the whole thing took me a few days to recover from.

I'm not quite sure what I am, I was raised in a family full of serious catholics... but I suppose Agnostic would be closest to describing me. I do consider myself to be a spiritual person though, and I just thought this movie was a complete existential experience.
