Reviews have been mixed from what I've seen. I am hoping for the best. I am probably going to go before the weekend, but I don't handle the surround sound all that well in theaters.

I've seen all 3 of the Swedish adaptions of the books. I saw a clip of the US version and it looked like it followed the originals pretty closely.

I haven't seen the Swedish versions, but heard they're quite good. I am afraid that the American version will lose the edge to the Salander character and turn her into some super anti-hero like they have the tendency to do.

I have the original versions as well and I enjoyed them alot. I am hoping to get to see it sometime soon but I usually wait a couple of weeks because i don't like to see movies when there are alot of people at the theatre.

I saw the foreign version. The only good bit was the rape sideplot. The main story wasn't appealing.

Yeah, thats what I'm afraid of too. In the swedish movie versions Salander is really tough, just like she is in the books. I'm just not sure if this american actress can play an as strong Salander as Noomi Rapace did in the swedish movies

I've seen the Swedish movie on DVD, and my wife and I have already bought tickets for this Saturday (Christmas Eve) to see the American version.

The female main character looks more of what I would expect her to look like in the original than the new movies.

You do realise I'm not Swedish?

May I ask what the appeal of the Swedish film is for you guys?

I really want to.

I haven't yet, though, because I had a family crisis, and I'm just now recovering from it.

I understand that the character of the female lead, Lispeth Salander, was supposed to have had Asperger's in the novels, but this wasn't emphasized in the Swedish movie. Perhaps it will in the American version.

That would actually make a lot of sense.. I always wondered why certain people were trying to take advantage of her of all people.

In the novels she is not officially diagnosed but at one point her former guardian (not the sadistic one) states that he thinks she may have it.

I wonder what people thought of the new movie and in particular Rooney Maras depiction of Lisbeth Salander? I liked the movie. thought it was well done.
