Also known as Iron Man 2.5, at least in my mind. I honestly couldn't care less about any of the other characters. Looks nice, though.

Looked awesome. I just hope my expectations for this film doesn't cause it to tank in my eyes.

They already mucked it up.

Iron Man flies using repulsor technology. It doesn't leave a smoke trail.

Classically, he uses repulsors to stay off the ground, and uses "boot jets" to propel himself forward. I seem to recall the exhaust from his boot jets being the resolution of a situation on occasion, until his opponents got smarter and stopped tying him up with flammable restraints...

What a surprise, New York City. Nearly every movie in the US seems to be filmed there. Although I guess it's the comic book's credit.

More to the point though, this looks pretty cool!

So many characters to work into 1 movie. I'm filled with skeptical anticipation.

I think most movies that take place in the US are filmed in Canada. :P It's funny how often New York architecture looks suspiciously like Toronto.

I'm looking forward to the movie, but I'm underwhelmed by the trailer.

Cap's costume is way too bright and cartoony....

And, if anyone can f**k up a big-time film it's Joss Whedon...

Who or what are the villains? It takes a broad brush indeed to paint a threat to the entire earth.

***NOT TECHNICALLY A SPOILER***

In Marvel's main continuity, the event that first drew the Avengers together was when Loki had manipulated the Hulk into going on a rampage, as part of yet another plot against his half-brother Thor. Thor, Ant-Man, the Wasp, and Iron Man all responded to the call for help, had the traditional "who the hell are you" first-superhero-meeting fight, then united with the Hulk to go after Loki.

I suspect that the movie has a variant on that concept (with a different lineup, of course - no Ant-Man or Wasp, so they substituted Hawkeye and the Black Widow). The team comes pre-assembled - not sure if they're going to try sticking the Hulk into the starting lineup, or if they're going to follow the comics battle and have him join the team halfway through.

I am loving Joss Whedon's dialog in Robert Downey Jr's character, though...

You've got to admit, the odds of Ant Man and Wasp making a successful modern day live action transition seemed pretty remote. They were smart to use Iron Man 2 and Thor as testing grounds for Black Widow & Hawkeye. Obviously Hawkeye had a much smaller role than Black Widow did, but he still came across as a badass even if all he did was talk in Thor.
