I'd heard that in the comics he's good friends with The Human Torch.

I don't know if this is a particularly good comparison, but Spidey has had an often rocky relationship with the Fantastic Four. Early on, he had tried to join them, and basically they told him to f**k off. Since then, he's been on the friendly side at times, while other times, he's had to fight them on occasion.

THough Spidey is close with the Human Torch, he even helped Spidey out with the costume of the Bombastic Bagman.
