To tie into Halloween, let's talk about our favorite scary movies. Mine would be the Scream trilogy.

I'm not really into horror, but Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs and Silent Hill. I love the Silent Hill games.

The Omen will always remain a favorite for me... even the remake was decent.

A really cool recent one that scared the pants off me was Haute Tension (High Tension)...

I thought "Fallen" was very good.

I like David Cronenberg's The Fly.

But the sequel (not by Cronenberg, I believe) is just horrible...the ending gives me nightmares.

Scary movies don't scare me. There are good movies that are meant to be scary or that are not scary and crap movies that are not scary or meant to be scary.

My favourite horror movies that were good and meant to be scary are:

 28 Days Later
 Saw
 The Fly
 Scream

Sorry if that's a bit confusing.

My favorite is the first Leprechaun movie; it didn't scare me but it was really funny.

Sleepy Hollow. It, and Underworld, are the two films with my most favorite visual styles ever.

The runners up are Silent Hill (again, for visuals), Evil Dead 2, and Shaun of the Dead (those last two because they're both very funny and very scary).

the people under the stairs. not because its the most 'scary' but because i saw it when i was quite young for the type of film (about 11,12) and it had very deep themes, such as the parents trying to create the 'perfect child' and a group of feral children living below the stairs (hence the name) very cool film.

also, i love shaun of the dead :D :D but i wudnt class it as scary, i was too busy laughing to get scared

You're right, there is no such thing as a scary movie. My favorite is Thirteen Ghosts.
