For different reasons entirely, the last 10 internet episodes of The Critic are painful. They drop almost every character, introduce random new ones, and completely lose their touch. It's unbearable to watch as a Critic fan.

"Jurassic Bark" was a fairly sad ending, I agree. Some of Futurama's episodes come close to "Jurassic Bark", but not all. Examples include "Parasites Lost", "Luck of the Fryish" (which had a similar structure/theme to "Jurassic Bark") and "Time Keeps on Slipping".

If you want the saddest comedy episode of all time, it is very obviously the Newsradio episode after Phil Hartman died. Cartoons can portray emotion well, but nothing like that.

Ah, Phil Hartman. He will be missed.

I agree Quatermass. I was just going to mention "Luck of the Fryish" and "Time Keeps on Slipping"

"Parasites Lost" wasn't as sad. It was sad because it all fails, but at the end Fry hasn't quite given up hope, and you see him playing the holophoner with a little smile on his face.

Hank Azaria does Apu, not Hartman. Just wanted to correct you.

As for me, I personally can't think of any moments. Though I must say, a good number of episodes of Digimon had some depressing moments. I love that show, had been since it premiered, but I kinda see it as anime therapy. Look at Ken, for example.

I would pick Futurama's Luck of the Fryish.

Matt Groening is a true genius! :D

What about "Alone Again, Natura-Diddly", when Maude Flanders died?

Ned's last words to his wife were "No footlongs."

The episode of South Park entitled "The Return of Chef".

I wonder if it's true if the last thing someone does before he/she dies is crap their pants.

BTW, did anyone see Nightline last night. It was about South Park.

Tim

"As Told By Ginger" has a lot of sad episodes in the later-second and third seasons.

I agree that Futurama's "Jurassic Bark" was a very sad episode. Other than that, ReBoot also had several sad episodes, especially during the end of the second series, and the beginning of the third.
