Inception is a very good movie and a vast improvement over The Dark Knight, but I still consider Christopher Nolan the most hilariously overrated director of all time. A decade ago I was trying to convince everyone of how great he was and trying to get people to watch Memento and Insomnia, but now I'm afraid to mention that I think his Batman films are mediocre drivel, for fear of getting an earful of rage from his loyal zealots.
Every movie made after 1998 with "written and directed by Quentin Tarantino" in the credits has been torture for me. If he wants me to watch him masturbate for two and a half hours, he should be paying me, not the other way around.
I know it's fashionable to bash Avatar, but it's really amazing how bad the script is. The dialogue is right out of the Star Wars prequels. And while we're on that topic, I don't know how George Lucas managed to fool people into thinking that Revenge of the Sith is a good movie, but it's just as miserable as the two previous embarrassments.
Anyone who's read my "movie a day" topic already knows this, but I'm completely baffled by how loved The Thing from Another World is. Hands down, it's the most overrated horror film ever made. If you want a good 1950s horror movie, let me know, because I can recommend about a dozen off the top of my head that are ten times better.
If anyone finds these opinions offensive, keep in mind that I liked Dracula 2000 and Godzilla 2000, so I don't exactly claim to be a paragon of good taste.
Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz, but Nolan's Batman movies p*ss all over the Joel Schumacher instalments from a colossal height. Nolan basically revived the franchise after the bloated, neon-drenched and homo-erotic horror that was Batman and Robin, but if you don't like them, then i have no problem with that.
Most overrated movies ever? First off, Avatar. Basically it's Dancing with Smurfs with atrocious dialogue and crappy special effects that hurts your eyes.
Bridesmaids - Not funny, whatsoever.
There Will Be Blood = Overrated to an extreme, a zimmer-frame race at an OAP home would be more interesting.
2001: A Space Odysessy - It may be a classic to the casual observer but i nodded off several times and just find it boring and uninteresting.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy = *yawn*
