I didn't really know where to put this. But are people with Aspergers quite prude (shocked or get by awkward by nudity and sex scenes in films). My friend has autism and is the same. Anyone else the same? I know it possible doesn't have a connection.

Hmm. The film that just won the Palm d'Or at Cannes has explicit lesbian sex scenes. To me that's a turn off so I won't be seeing the movie. Sometimes, when I see movies with excessive kissing in it, that's a turn off. Movies where the simulated sex is just gratuitous filler is a complete turn off as well.

I typically have little patience for sex scenes in movies, but not because I'm a prude. It's because sex scenes are almost always boring as hell and add nothing to the plot. Orson Welles said, "In my opinion, there are two things that can absolutely not be carried to the screen: the realistic presentation of the sexual act and praying to God." I agree with him.

Funny thing is, while I've never had a problem with movie nudity, plenty of people who barely know me assume I do. Just like they think I don't drink. :?

I love sex but hate violence. the more nudity and sex, the better. it sorta seems there was this movie adaptation of the tempest, where the actors were all nude.

Strange how many people I've met who will complain about nudity and sex in mainstream cinema, but who will also watch free pron over the Internet.

Maybe they're upset that mainstream cinema has too many explosions, gunfights, and car chases...

... and too much dialog ...

... and real plots ...

Many aspies are excruciatingly rules oriented, that includes rules of propriety.

So yes, it can be distressing, often because we don't understand when and how it is OK to break the societal rules.
NTs instinctively have a good grasp on life's 'artistic license'.

Does that make us prudes?
Pretty much, yes.

I think that because of my increasing porn habit, I couldn't really see be picky about anything in film. Unless sex or nudity is used in a cheap way just to sell more tickets.

I guess about 10 years ago I was flipping through channels and accidentally stumbled across Mulholland Drive. While that had some nudity, I felt it was all quite well done.

I feel the same way about The Secretary which dealt with the tricky subject of Masochism and Domination in an interesting way. It was not a leather freakshow gimp thing. Just two people struggling with awkward feelings.

A prude is a person who pours righteous indignation into the wrong things.

A prude is a person who lives with the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be having a good time.

A prude is a person who goes through life collecting the thorns while trampling on the roses.

A prude is a person who declares that virginity is superior to marriage.

A prude is a person who believes that the soul is the only part of the body worth mentioning.

A prude is a person who displays open contempt for the "pleasures of the flesh" solely because he or she has never experienced any.

A prude is a person who defines "nudity" as the condition one is in while bathing.

A prude is a person who would be offended by the following joke...

Quote:
A guy walks into a drugstore operated by a prudish woman.

He asks, "Can I have a dozen condoms, Miss?"

"Don't 'Miss' me, mister!"

"Well then, you'd better make that 13 condoms!"

... without ever understanding what it means.

I find gushing sentimentality more embarassing.

There are a lot of rules in sado-masochistic sex.
