What I think about the Harry Potter movies

I've mentioned this before in some of my other topics and I'm gonna say more about. First of all and please don't shun me for this, I have never read any of the Potter books because I'm not really the book reading type and I kind of have problems when reading. I can read of course but when I'm trying to read a long sentence I always trail off and can't focus properly.

I have seen all 8 of the movies and have the first 7 on dvd and just recently got DH part 2 on Blu Ray since I have a Blu Ray player now and will probably consider rebuying the first 7 on Blu Ray just to match with the recent one.

I do actually enjoy these films but I don't think there brilliant works of masterpieces as some people may say. I remember watching the first one on video years ago when it was out at the time but I never really continued to watch the other one when they came out. Around 2008 when there were five movies at the time I saw the 2nd and 3rd movies on ITV 1 and I thought they were pretty good and I started to get a little more into Harry Potter and sometime later I bought the first 4 movies on dvd which were kinda cheap and I rewatched the first 3 and saw the 4th one for the first time and liked it and not long after that I bought the 5th one and liked that one as well. I can tell you after that that I watched all five movies a couple more times after that but not that much. I saw the last 3 in the cinema and liked them as well but along with the others they didn't wow me or astonish me or anything like that, I just thought they were good and entertainable movies, it's kinda hard to explain in full detail. Even though I like these movies I wouldn't say I'm a big Harry Potter fan, maybe I'm considered a noob.

Now that there aren't any more movies maybe sometime in the future I could give the books a chance and probably see the movies in a different way, but I'm not 100% sure. All and all each of the movies are good but not brilliant but all eight together tell a pretty good exciting story. In the future I will be watching all eight movies again and probably a couple more times after that but not as much as any other movies I like.

I read all of the books. It was quite an obsession at the time So I didn't care about the films it was just embodiment of what I created for myself (atmosphere and scenery) and I think was executed quite brilliantly. Had I not read the books I would have probably lost in those films, a lot was missing and stuff.

I kinda disliked how the kids acted (or maybe not) and something was lacking. But other than that I was wowed - they captured that magic I was looking for. When I wanna erase time I can watch them over and over.

I didn't think they were as good as the books. And I did not like the books to begin with.

A lot of my adult friends got into them a few years ago. I never saw the attraction. I tried reading them several times, with no success. Even as a 7 year old, I would have found them to be remedial.

Now if you want to talk about the Golden Compass...

I wouldn't consider you a "noob". Everyone has their different tastes.

As for me I'm a big Harry Potter fan. I was at a Christmas family reunion when my aunt who lives in England brought me the first two books. The second one had just come out around that time I think. I was instantly hooked. I've read the books and seen all the movies. I have all eight big hardcover books displayed on my shelf and I have the ultimate edition blu-rays of years 1 to 6.

After I saw the last movie I got really sad. I grew up reading the books and watching the movies, but now it was all over...

I didn't like the movies all that much. They really dont compare to the books

They were never meant to be good. Just popular.

They're fun films for a lot of people.

Coming from someone who's never read the books, I think all the films were pretty good. Not all of them were phenominal, but at least none of them were entirely off target either. From a production standpoint, I still think it was an incredible achievement to keep the core cast together for an entire decade with only a couple notable casting changes. Here's how I would rank the films from best to just okay. (there realy wasn't a film in the series I would go so far as to call it the "worst" of the series)
