Is it me or does Buddy show autistic traits? Watch the movie and you'll see what I mean.

I doubt he's autistic, it's probably because he was a human raised by ELVES! Socially he was normal in the world of the elves (just not a good toy builder). In the human world where the customs are completely different of course he's going to be awkward. Autism was not written into the character that's for sure.

I wouldn't exactly consider his character to have aspie traits. I more consider it to be an extremely comedic take on the "fish out of water" character trait. But to give the movie his due, Ferrell was the perfect choice in providing the necessary energy needed for such an over-the-top concept, and his performance pretty much made this film.
