Originally I was completely uninterested in clothing, and dressed quite badly. Then one day I decided to improve my clothing. Then I discovered that I enjoyed it and became a bit obsessed with it, even to the point of making modifications to items to make them suit me better, for example removing an objectionable sewn label, using dyes to change the color, taking it to a tailor to have it adjusted to fit me better, having embroidery added, yikes.
Then after having spent a substantial amount, my taste in clothing suddenly changed (practically overnight) and I could not stand to wear much of it anymore and had to give it away, despite it being expensive, and start rebuilding a new collection in my new style.
When away from home, I usually wear prescription/corrective glasses. I have a bit of a fashion fetish with these, including prescription sunglasses and special lens types, tints, coatings, filters, frames. I cannot stand plastic frames, they must be metal.
Being semi-customized to my particular specifications and optical correction requirements, a single one of these is rather expensive unfortunately, but I do receive somewhat of a rebate via health insurance because they are prescription/corrective, not only for fashion.
Speaking of shoes, I am still receiving a small jolt of pleasure every time I look at my most recent acquisition: Dunlop Classic Volleys in black canvas, with genuine rubber zigzag sole. A type of versatile tennis shoe (not that I will be using them for tennis). In a few days I will be purchasing another backup pair to keep for when the first pair wear out, just in case they stop producing them or change the design or something like that. Yes, they are THAT good.
These shoes are not very expensive and look unremarkable, but they have a bit of a cult following among certain groups, and have been in production since the 1970's. In my case, I am in the group that likes rock-related activities. I love exploring rocky parts of nature, for example climbing up a very rocky mountain, or hopping along the rocks in a creek. And Volleys are just brilliant for this purpose because you can bounce all over the rocks and they do not slip (MUCH better than regular sneakers or sports shoes). They even maintain a remarkable amount of traction when wet, hence perfect for the creek rock hopping.
People who do roof tiling for a living love Volleys again because of their antislip properties. I am sure some injures have been avoided thanks to Volleys. Similarly, house painters love them.
Be warned that unfortunately Dunlop now sells at least 2 versions of the Volley. The good version with the sole that makes all the difference and a cheaper shoddy-looking version with a tacky plasticy sole. The cheaper version is not even that much cheaper, so I do not know why they bother producing that crap. But anyway, the "Classic Volley" as it is called retains the original quality and design.
oops, did not mean to write so much
Totally failed to hide my aspiness, but oh well, you already knew
