Recently I've tried to get more into film, especially so-called "classic" films. I've never been a big film-watcher in my life but I think you can learn just as much from a great film as you can from a great novel or essay. Feel free to use this thread to recommend, comment, etc. Also refrain from spoilers, you know the deal.
The Godfather Part II (rewatch): 9.5/10 The ending scenes are amazing.
Fight Club: 9/10 A lot deeper philosophically then many give it credit for. I spent a good half hour just mulling over it and what it means. I love the ambiguity. Definitely will rewatch a year or so from now.
Requiem for a Dream: 8/10 Again, a great ending, but the whole thing felt a bit contrived. Depressing and sometimes melodramatic. I don't think I want to watch this again.
Taxi Driver: 9.5/10 Maybe an AS person isn't the best judge of acting, but this has to be the best I've ever seen.
12 Angry Men: 9/10 Intriguing. Felt shorter than it was.
To watch:
Akira
Stalker (by Tarkovsky)
The Big Lebowski
