Anybody remember this show. I've never actually read the books this show was based from but I use to like this show when I was a kid and I've recently for no reason have been checking them out on youtube. I will admit that I'm a fully grown man and watching this show might make me a bit of a sissi but hey I once knew a guy about my age who watched in the night garden and he kept annoying everyone with his constant knowledge of Macka Pakca, iggle wiggle or whatever their names were and if he likes thoses shows then I'm not really guilty to admit I watch shows like The Worst Witch. The show isn't anything fantastic as it is a bit weird at times and some of the acting from the girls are kinda wooden and blandish at times but it's nice to revisit your childhood now and then. The main character herself Mildred Hubble is probably a good example. Not that the actress is terrible, because she can be quite good at times especially when it's dramatic. The one thing I really love about this show is the character Miss Hardbroom. My god was this woman terrifying. I'm glad I never had her for a teacher. I just love how strict and scary this woman is, okay she's not that scary but the thought of her just popping up everywhere like she's Q from Star Trek The Next Generation is kinda creepy. Also one thing that always bothered me was how all this magic exists in the normal world. In Harry Potter Hogwarts is in another world and the humans aren't aware of this. Their memories would be erased I guess but in The Worst Witch it all takes place in the real world. Does the entire earth population know that witches and wizards exist?

Hi

I like this show as well! I haven't watched it in a while though. I think that the school wasn't secret but that the magic was. They did have an episode where another normal school came to play a netball or something match and I think they had to make it look normal. I may be mistaken though.

Glad someone else out there likes the show!

I used to watch it too... I think Bonafan is right. I think society just thought it was a normal school (they hid the magic etc).

My mum loved it, never watched it myself.

I know that but I remember that the father of the character Ethel Hallow who was Mildred Hubble's rival was the owner or something and he is non magical(muggle as they would say in Harry Potter) and he knows about all the magic stuff so I'm assuming his superiors know about this and are ok with it.

I used to like the books as a kid, and I thought the TV series were ok as well. I remember how Mildred Hubble used to get in trouble for walking around with her shoelaces untied, like me.

I'd just finish watching all 8 Harry Potter movies on Blu Ray and even though I'm not really a fan ( I've never actually read the books) I definately think it owns The Worst Witch.
