If you're a Stalinist, sure.

I'm pretty sure Eisenstein wasn't a Stalinist. In fact, he was criticised by the Stalinist regime for his views and style of filmmaking, plus one of his movies [Ivan The Terrible Part 2] was banned for 12 years.

Anyways, I love his use of shadows, they are very inventive. It's been a while since I last watched Eisenstein, but one scene I recall from Ivan The Terrible [I think] was when Ivan was speaking with a courtier, and on the wall to the side you can see Ivan as a giant shadow, towering over the courtier. It was a very striking and unforgettable image.

However, I think I like Akira Kurosawa more
