I was in the cinema for this film was generally curious, 3D effects were good too, but I feel like I had a Deja Vu, some scenes seem vaguely familiar, a bit like watching a remake of Alien

I think there are lots of problems with the script but it is enjoyable to watch.

There is a hilarious youtube video somewhere explaining all the problems like:

If a donut shaped UFO was about to fall on top of you wouldn't you run sideways?

The Good
A Ridley Scott movie set in the Alien universe. Its not Resurrection or Alien 3. Very nice special effects. A good scifi movie in a very long drought of the genre in the midst of a flood of super hero movies.

The Bad
Most of the acting is kind of dull, with a few exceptions. Don't mind the vagueness of some of the plot but other stuff bothered me.

The Ugly
Space jockeys lose their mystique to long time Alien fans and they look pretty dumb. Last part of ending is some of the cheapest pandering to fans I have ever seen in a movie. Its like someone told Ridley Scott: "WE GOTTA REMIND 'EM THAT THEY LIKED THE ALIEN MOVIES!! ! "Huh but this is just set in the same universe, I wanted to make a different movie!!" "YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!! "

I give it 3.5/5 chestbursters out of 5. A worthy addition to my bluray collection at least. The NECA toys look awesome.

I thought it was quite good. Though the 3d didn't add much.

I really enjoyed it and some of the 3D was a nice touch such as with the holograms. Otherwise great score, shot very well, and visually striking alien environment.

My only major complaint with the script was Dr. Holloway freaking out or becoming like a space zombie. That scene didn't work or I just hoped for something more interesting from ingesting that black stuff. I had expected maybe an alien creature would emerge from him or he might start to mutate.

I know that script kind of meanders and doesn't have a very steady progression, but as I said in the other thread I took this to be very Lovecraftian with it's characters fumbling toward the unknown.

As for the Spacejockeys I thought that was an interesting approach and long overdue. I mean really with so many sequels nobody else thought to approach that subject.

I love this film so much. It shows the true nature of human desires, especially david. The plot holes..? Whatever, don't care about it

I didn't get the thing with the pile of alien bodies by the door. What was that about?

That door with a head chopped off?

I think they where running from one of the aliens (the ones with no eyes, not the ones that made the aliens).

No, when the two guys got left inside the complex over night, they wandered around and found almost a snowdrift of bodies piled against a door.

That doesn't really fit the images though.

Or were they the ones who ran ahead of the one who got his head cut off? If so, what killed them?

Maybe they where running from the thing that was swimming around in the goo.

I guess they are implanted and bursted by aliens and dead. The other living space jockeys try stock stock up the dead bodies in that place. See the holes on their bodies.

My guess is they where some kind of test subjects. The whole planet is some kind of Bio-weapons facility. Who knows what else they had there?

Ok, here's my theory: David was "alone" on Prometheus for quite awhile (about 4 years?). During that time he was studying all the accumulated information about the Engineers. To the point where when they finally get to the Engineer's ship he knows how to understand the Engineer language and use the engineer's equiptment. It also seems like he knows something more or, has an agenda. Almost like he's decoded a hidden message or talked to the engineers at some point during the flight. I submit that it is David that has orcestrated many of the events in the movie to "test" the Prometheus crew for what ever reason. Maybe he was just trying to eliminate them all. It's clear that he has somehow singled out Shaw as a "favorite". Maybe it's from watching her dreams. He probably was watching all the Prometheus crew members dreams as part of his duties on the ship. This way he's come to know all of their strength and weaknesses. Maybe at some point his plan got away from him. He probably didn't intend to get ripped appart by the Engineer he revived. However he's managed to salvage his survival and get Shaw to bring him along at the end of the movie. It will be interesting to see how the 2 of them match wits in the next movie.

You think there will be a sequel?
