Since Avengers is coming out on DVD, seemed like a good opportunity to post a new topic:
Marvel and DC movies
What's your favorite?
What's your least favorite?
Films?
Characters?
Plots?

To get the ball rolling, I think avengers is cool. Watching the Hulk beat Loki into the ground still makes me laugh.
Plus Thor is cute.

How about "Both" and "Neither"?

I really like them all. But the one movie I really hated was Hulk by Ang Lee in 2003. The Christopher Nolan Batman series is my favorite. I liked all three the same. But I really loved The Avengers!

I was a Marvel guy growing up, and despite some flirtations with Batman and Plastic Man, I've remained a Marvel guy.

For movies only Marvel has the better universe.

I really loved The Avengers and Captain America. I also liked the last Hulk movie.

DC has nothing but Nolan's Batman, but it's one of the best movie trilogies of all time.

So, I give DC a slight edge because DC has the best complete story.

However, I don't have too much confidence in DC's future. They seem hell bent on making a Justice League move fast... They're not going to take the time to build their movie world and that will be a mistake.

IGN is reporting that DC is considering two movie versions of Batman at the same time, one for a JL movie and one for an unrelated reboot series...

I smell disaster.

DC and Marvel are both good in their own way.

When it comes to DC and Marvel it's mostly the cartoons and movies I watch, but I've read a few but not alot of comic books. I think DC has better cartoons with TV shows like Batman TAS, JLU and Young Justice and STV movies like Batman: Under the Red Hood and Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, though Marvel does have their own share of awesome shows like X-Men (90's) and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes but DC probably has more than just 2 shows that tell great stories. However I think Marvel has better Movies than DC. Marvel has plenty of superheroes that have made it to the big screen despite the fact that there were a few stinkers. DC has made a few great flicks as well but they're always Superman and Batman which I don't have a problem with by the way, I mean The Dark Knight Trilogy, the 3 greatest superhero movies ever I think, but still I would love to see Wonder Woman, The Flash or Green Arrow come to the big screen. The only other DC heroes to make it to the big screen are the really lesser known ones who films sucked like Steel and Jonah Hex (which I've never seen) and the only other DC superhero who is more popular but probably not that much was the Green Lantern and that film wasn't really that good. So 3 things you need to know:
1)Batman is my favourite superhero.
2)Batman TAS is my favourite superhero show.
3)The Dark Knight Trilogy are my favourite superhero movies.

However I think maybe I favor Marvel more but that's a big maybe. When it comes to DC Batman is really where I wanna go but don't get me wrong there are other DC stuff not really Batman releated that I like and love too.

Okay, you're right people. I should have put "Both" on the poll. I still wouldn't put neither, as it's easier to take part in the thread if you like at least one or the other. First time messing with a poll. Sorry all.

Recent Batman trilogy was awesome! :batman: Looking foward to the new superman movie coming in a year or three. Can't quite remember exactly when.
Thor 2 too. Still can't remember when, but I think closer to theaters than superman.

Wish I could get a few movies for my library, but people don't return them. :ncool:

I love both. I mainly read DC books though although I do enjoy some Marvel series. For cartoons I go with DC. For movies I go with Marvel. I really would have to pick both as choosing between them would be like choosing my favorite child. I just can't do it.

It's not a very fair match-up between the two companies because, as tb86 mentions, DC has mainly pushed Superman and Batman onto the silver screen. Beside those two, there's what? Catwoman? Green Lantern? It's noteworthy that DC has stuck with their two big guns for Hollywood productions, and haven't borrowed the rights of other iconic heroes from their books to any film studios, as they could have done with Wonder Woman or the Flash, both easily as influential to comic book history as Thor or the X-Men.

Marvel has been churning out movies of their own making by the dozens in the past 5 years, which turned out to be far more lucrative than I had expected. People were eating those Avengers build-up/tie-in movies UP. It's all Iron Man's fault, though. If Avengers had not been as good as it was, Marvel Films would be lying on its ass right now.

Look at how Marvel's heroes were represented in the cinemas before the X-Men trilogy. The one silver lining on a very dark cloud -a string of movies including 2 horrible incarnations of Captain America, Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD, and a Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren- was BLADE. It took one of Marvel's more obscure heroes to make a box office hit. I think that proves that, if you wanna make a good comic book adaptation movie, do it from the heart, and not from the wallet.

I like watching Superhero Cartoons and there's 2 series(s) on at the moment, one by marvel and one by DC, and I like the mboth. I really can't decide which is better. I hardly watch the movies, though.

I tend to like Marvel a bit better overall. DC generally has Marvel beaten with specific iconic characters such as Batman but I like how Marvel seems somehow less primitive overall.

My favorite movie so far has been The Dark Night.

My favorite character is the relatively obscure Multiple Man (comic version, not that awful crap from the movie).

It's a shame Valiant comics didn't pull it together and make it. I rather liked their Solar, XO Man On War and Eternal warrior comics.
