I'm an enormous fan of it. It's been a long time waiting for season 4 to start, I hope they can tie up all the loose ends, there are enough to rival a Japanese anime.

I am, although I have mixed feelings about it. Does it really have to be so deadly serious? The "Starbuck" character was written for a man, IMO.

Call Signs are cool! 8)

Yeah, the new BSG is my favourite series ever.

If you were one of 50 thousand survivors of a holocaust that killed 50 billion people, being chased by xenocidal robots bent on the extinction of the human race, you'd be serious too...

Naturally.

But why must the whole thing be so dire? Original BSG was light-hearted and fun. People will have polar reactions to the new BSG. I love it and hate it at the same time. Very peculiar feeling.

It was a deliberate decision to inject some realism into a genre that until now has been sadly lacking it. There is some humour (e.g. a lot of Baltar's antics), but it's only used when it makes sense in the context of the story, not as an end in itself. If you want true light-hearted and fun, you can watch ... I don't know ... every other space opera series ever made! ;)

One of the reasons the 1970s BSG was stupid was because it didn't take seriously a situation that is nothing but serious. It would be like a bunch of Jews frolicking around in a prison camp in Nazi Germany when they know they're about to be sent to the gas chambers.

I found a pretty cool 10 minute "extended trailer" of the first 3 seasons (with tiny preview of the 4th season) on YouTube. It's extremely spoiler heavy, but good for luring people into watching the damn show!

totally a fan. I just wish they didn't use Frak so much and the wobblycam is nauseating if overdone and BSG is the biggest offender.

I am still pissed that they canceled Caprica. That show was fantastic. People just ignored it because it was too story driven for them and not enough spaceships blowing up and The Sci-Fi Channel likes to cancel good shows to make room for more wrestling and Ghost Hunters crap.

Yeah I wished they expanded a bit more in Caprica. I wonder if Blood & Chrome will use more flashbacks to expand what they couldn't explain in Caprica.

Last I heard, Blood & Chrome will be a web only series if that... I wouldn't get any hopes up.

PS

Caprica was an excellent show... It's the last thing I watched on the wrestling channel.

The first 2 webisodes are on youtube. That would be 2 out of 10 available so far. I hope that they will make a Premier of some sorts.
