As a history buff I found this show to be AMAZING. A bit corny with the outlandish costumes and cliched badguys but I find the incorporation of ancient human mythology fascinating. Basically the premise of the show is that the 'god's of ancient human culture were actually aliens who once posed as gods and enslaved the human race in prehistory. They brought earth humans to other planets to serve as labor and soldiers long ago, before a rebellion on earth forced these 'gods' to leave for good. These other humans who were taken from earth are still enslaved, some are free, some are primitive and some are more advanced that earth (a variety of reasons like long dark ages, no dark ages, alien enslavement etc play into that and its pretty interesting).....

Anyway its just cool because in Sumerian mythology (the origin of some of the early Biblical stories), there was a rebellion of the lower gods against the higher ones which resulted in the creation of mankind (to use as a work force)....

Being a interested skeptic in all that "Ancient Aliens" theories since a kid my discovery of this show was like....well finding a Nintendo under the Christmas tree back in 1995 (an anaology older people prob wont really appreciate, but that excitement is true for any kid back in 1995)...

Or was it the Sarmatians or Scythans?

SG-1 was great pulp adventure...

I loved the way the writers referenced pop-culture alien/conspiracy theories too-- Asgard/Greys, Area 51, etc...

I'd love to see that production team do an adaptation of Fallout.

Sorry to say that the Stargate franchise is dead.

I watched a lot of SG-1 back in the day. I think I stopped watching 'religiously' around season 8 for some reason. Lately I've been catching reruns whenever I can, makes me feel nostalgic

I love this series. I like how it started off low key and small scale, and slowly, step by step, progressed to larger plots, and more monumental scenes and stories, as the seasons went by.

Although I think the show deteriorated after the 8th Season because the Goa'uld were already defeated and they had to think of a new villain quickly.
