I have noticed a trend - apparently, using cold-hearted cynicism as a replacement for empathy and/or intelligence is popular in the world of movie criticism, especially on the Internet.
I wonder why some of these people even bother watching movies, when they are actively manufacturing reasons to complain about what is happening on the screen.
I am not referring to the trolls on imdb - a lot of the critics who are listed on Rotten Tomatoes are behaving like this.
Some critics are quick to call a movie "offensive" for any reason they can come up - it gives them a sense of superiority over the people who actually like those movies. And, if that movie is a Hollywood production with big stars, it makes them think that they are a part of the modern counterculture environment.
It's all BS.
I understand everybody is entitled to his or her own opinion, but I highly doubt that personal opinion has much to do with what a lot of these people are writing.
