Here's the thing, I love Adventure Time, or at least, want to 'love' it, but the trouble is, I have joined rather late! Tell me what is to know about the series. :D

Haha! ^I remember the first time I saw that scene...I knew it was absolute gold and I also consider it my favorite part of any Adventure Time episode, ever. Anyway, OP, your best bet is to just keep your TV tuned to CN as it seems to be on almost every day. Illegality aside, you should probably also pursue all previous episodes (should be able to find them somewhere online) and get caught up, then you'll be set and also genuinely love the show :).

And I am the kind of guy who wants to understand new series in little time, too!

Me too, though I prefer to actually watch the show itself rather than do a bunch of research on it like I would do in the past.

By the way, you can buy the entire series of Adventure Time for around $101 from the iTunes Store. You can also buy it from Amazon or Zune, but Zune is a few dollars more expensive and Amazon's "season passes" are a lot lousier than iTunes' or Zunes' (Amazon makes you pay by the episode, where as iTunes/Zune charges you one lump sum for all current and future episodes of the current season) Buying the episodes through these services is the only way to watch them in order, since for some reason CN isn't releasing season box sets on DVD/BluRay.

At the suggestion of a friend i watched the mini-arc that explains the Ice King's back story. It was quality television, quite dark for a children's show.

As far as random monologues go, this is my favorite:

I also started watching it quite recently. It's very enjoyable; one of the few shows that would be right at home in both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.

After doing a little more research, I stand corrected. Starting on March 30th, Adventure Time will be available to watch instantly through Netflix streaming. I learned about this last night and I was so excited about it that I literally couldn't sleep! 8O :D

I do too, he represents everything I like in a hero: strong, courageous, outrageous, and kind-hearted. :)

My 'brother' is starting to get into the show; after he said he HATED it. :D (Even though he saw only a small bit of it, IIRC).

I think the show's focal point revolves around the show's gritty, sometimes dark themes surrounding a childish show. which draws in the older crowd and gives them nostalgia about previous shows.
