Set in the high-gloss city of Miami, Nip/Tuck explores the lives of two hot-shot plastic surgeons whose catch phrase, "Tell me what you don't like about yourself," set the stage for a series filled with secrets and deception. Beauty, the saying goes, is only skin deep. The beauty of Nip/Tuck is that it goes deeper, laying bear the complexities and fragile natures often found in patients seeking cosmetic surgery.

Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon portray Miami South Beach plastic surgeons who are themselves in full-blown midlife crises as they confront career, family and romance problems. The series' cutting-edge stories range from funny to suspenseful to uncommonly powerful. The surgeries are graphically bold. The sexuality is rampant. The elite plastic surgery team of McNamara / Troy, whose skill at giving others perfect bodies contrasts with the doctors' imperfect personal lives.

It is for a mature audience only.

Nip/Tuck really broke a lot of ground in my view. And I'll give the writers a lot of credit. I've seen the show sporadically the last 5 years or so and I'll see an episode, miss the next 7 or so, then see another one. One minute, there's some dude in the kitchen covered with tattoos threatening Sean's(i think that's his name?) family. The next minute, his son who was fooling around with Sophia Bush and some other cheerleader isn't actually his son after all, it's actually the other doctor's son! Sean had a romance with the gal from that Tommy Boy movie that Tommy Boy has a crush on and then she dies I believe? The next minute, Sean's son (or rather, his partner and best friend's son) is sleeping with Kelly Carlson that was originally with Christian? And then Christian has cancer I think. Haha that's what I remember. Will you be watching next season Alex? Anyone else? Definitely an oftentimes overlooked gem of a show.
