Any Stargate fans out there? What's your favorite incarnation/series of the show? Mine would probably have to be SG-1 but I HATED the final episode... Big disappointment...

SG-1 was my favorite, Atlantis was ok, but Universe blew chunks.

SG-1 = gold. Atlantis = silver. Universe = toilet paper.

I loved SG1 (Season 4 is the ultimate in stargately goodness) and also the first 4 seasons of atlantis. Season 5 of atlantis and universe were craptastical. Like seriously, I think they just wanted a gamer nerd in universe to be all, our demigraphic have a hope of going through the stargate and have more smarts then qualified professionals trained in this stuff. Reminded me a lot of how in Mars Attacks the kids who skipped school to play video games save the president's daughter because of their arcade games. Pathetic really.

Pretty much everything was downhill after they replaced all the best characters with people from the cast of Farscape.

SGU was weird. Much darker and more psychological than the others, but mainly I think it suffered from the small cast, limited plot possibilities, and the INCREDIBLY boring and awkward shore leave parts.

Even if that's true, just because a Sci-Fi show is good doesn't mean you can improve a completely different sci-fi show by swapping out the male and female leads.

True, you just said it in a way that implied that Farscape was less then awesome.

I loved SG-1 until the Farscape cast was added. All of the new characters annoyed me.

Yes, I love Stargate!

Teal'c is my favorite character 8)

My opinions:

Original Movie = Good

SG1 = Very Good (but they should have stopped after Season Eight)

Atlantis = Very Good

Universe = Good (better than nothing which is what we have now  )

Ark Movie = OK

Continuum Movie = Good

I only liked Stargate SG-1 up until Richard Dean Anderson left.

I'd say it's strongest point was during the first five seasons. There was a lot of character development, good storylines, plenty of humour, understandable science and of course action.

Season 6 to 8 were ok, however it became less about the characters and more about the science and technology, which I found really confusing (i could barely understand anything Carter was saying).

During season 9 and 10, the show begun to take itself less seriously and I was really turned off.

I have adapted the table-top RPG called "Traveller" to the Stargate mythos. So have Andy Slack and John Tynes (among others). All of our adaptations are built around the concept of an "SG-13" team. Mine has SG-13 as the team where they put you when you've screwed up once too often on away missions with other teams. SG-13 goes on the "easy" missions - at least, they usually start out that way...
