I thought it was pretty good. First time seeing wasn't a big fan of them destroying the timeline but now see it as a good thing. I also think Zachary Qunito is AMAZING as Spock.

I think that while it definitely had its flaws (Spock + Uhura--the whole "hot for teacher" thing, butchering of Scotty's character, a little too much suspension of disbelief on Kirk's RETAINING his rapid promotion), it was a well put-together movie and much more enjoyable than any Trek movie since First Contact.

@Sosayweall: i liked scotty in the new film. sure, spock + uhura was a little weird, and they could have gotten a better way to make kirk captain, but overall, it was a great movie.

Oddly enough, for me, the best part of the movie was PIKE! I was scared for him the entire movie, and the ending was a HUGE payoff. Of all the people in that derailed universe, he's the ONE person I can say truly won in that deal. Even if it turns out he's permanently lost the use of his legs, he'd likely have a lot to do and to enjoy in life in that universe. :)

I thought it was pretty good. Using a parallel universe was a nice touch, it gave it the best of both worlds.

EDIT: Quinto was good as Spock, but the best in show was Karl Urban as McCoy. He really sold it.

Urban definitely got into character the deepest--but what was the most impressive was the voice. If you closed your eyes, you could almost believe that was DeForest Kelley (sp?). He had the inflection, the tone, every part of the voice dead-on.

I definitely liked it. Maybe not all there structurally, but it was certainly fun. Can't wait to see the next two.

i hated the exaggerated lens flare in many scenes, that was one big distraction. it made me want to put on my glare-blocking sunglasses. i just couldn't get into the whole thing.
