Old actresses who played protagonist in multiple movies?

I was just thinking about three Indian actresses (from past and present) who're famous for playing lead characters - Nadia, Vijayashanti and Vidya Balan. I don't know so much about western movies, so I was wondering if there were any old actresses who were famous for playing the protagonist. If you don't know any old ones even new ones will do.

America has a plethora of actresses who were protagonists in films. Here is a simple list off the top of my head.
