Abrams is simply an opportunist. He lacks the... enterprise... to invent his own ST series so instead he simply revamps the first series invoking the alternate time travel trope. I utterly love ST and im watching next gen for th third or fourth time now aha but I want to find out what happens after voyager. As if Enterprise werent bad enough. St is about pushing boundaries testing humanitie's limits and boldy going where * no man has gone before * this stubborn refusal to trek into the future is harming the franchise and ultimately alienating fans. Imagine the raw possibility of a new series!

I wonder if there'll be episodes featuring the original Star Trek timeline in an alternate universe. They did after all have episodes featuring the so-called mirror universe in the original series.

I would hope so. So I am not totally disturbed, by that parallel universe, as long as its stays a parallel universe, and does not replace the old ones, by letting it simply die out of further content.

I do understand Abrams to a certain point, so when voyager was released, the reason why it didnt really interest me, was because of it already being too "psychotherapeutic". (I simply miss the right word in english.) There was simply so much endlessly discussed and portraited from all morale viewpoints,,, That was as well something happening in TNG and DS9. but in a good and interesting mix, while in Voyager the amount of it, was too much for me. I told my partner myself, that I´d wish again for a Star Trek series with less "therapeutic" chars, but again more a bit like the old series, with characters that are not trying to become perfect.

And if they would have done so WITHOUT relaunching the whole time line, it would have really been perfect for me. Out of that reason, I as well did not understand why the pre Star Trek series flopped. I really liked it, because it was just as mentioned, for me a little step back into more of the "Kirk" direction.
