Today i watched it on Tv again

Is one of my favorite movie.

I always wondering does the running across America scene was inspired by real life or not?

Does anybody know, is there a diagnosis that Forrest is supposed to have? Or just a down to earth guy just with his own strengths/weaknesses?

Anyway, IMO it is an awesome film, and one of my favourite movies of all time.

What I like best about it is how Forrest Gump misunderstands everything in an (unintentional) profound way.

It is like Being There (1979) with Peter Sellers, just better...

On the whole, I really like this film, though the language and sexual content get fairly extreme at times. The idea of a man simply wandering through history, teaching valuable lessons to people just by his presence, is really emotional. My favorite scenes both involve Lt. Dan; his lecture to Forrest about the Congressional Medal, and his argument with God during the hurricane.

I never read the book by Winston Groom, but I've heard its very different from the film. Another thing is that Paramount stiffed Groom on his profits through crooked accounting, so he refused to authorize a sequel.

I find it to be way too sad. I know it's supposed to be an inspirational movie and all, but the whole subplot about his relationship with Jenny just breaks my heart. The fact that they were childhood friends, the way Jenny treats Forrest throughout most of the movie, and the way Forrest never really gave up on his love for her, reminds me way too much of an unrequited love interest I once had. (Although at least in Forrest's case his love for her was eventually reciprocated, whereas mine will likely never be.)

My problem was Forrest Gump was Jenny. The way she kept disappearing and reappearing in his life, then waiting three years to tell him they have a child together. Only after she gets an unknown virus and is dying from it does she finally accept his marriage proposal, which barely gives them any time to be a family. What kind of a friend does that? I'm sorry, but that ruined the movie for me.

I only saw it 1ce when it came out & I was a kid then. I thought he was borderline retorted like the guy in the book Of Mice & Men. I found the movie boring in spots & kind of long.

For anyone who likes this movie I think Being There starring Peter Sellers is worth a look.

I think one of the DVD commentaries implied HIV, which is why the ending of the film takes place in the early 1980s.

To me, it's nothing short of an untarnished, perfect classic movie. And so quotable and memorable.
