The Hitchhiker was my favorite, and pretty much anything written by Richard Matheson.

Five Characters in Search of an Exit is the first episode I remember seeing. I was probably five years old. You could say it left an impression.

I can remember being shown four episodes in Literature class in middle school-- "The Masks", "The Eye of the Beholder", "The Rip Van Winkle Caper", and "He's Alive"-- because one of the selections we were reading from our textbook was "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street", and the teacher wanted us to experience some other episodes as well. I'm not sure which, but I'm pretty sure one of those four is the first episode I ever saw. Now that I'm older and I can appreciate the series a little more, I really enjoy watching it. A local channel plays two episodes every Saturday night. I think "He's Alive" is probably still my favorite.

I've always had a special place in my heart for the Twilight Zone; especially when the SyFy channel plays a marathon of the old show during some holiday. I am literally glued to the TV, watching those creepy, sometimes funny episodes.
As for favorites -well, that's kind of hard, as most of them were pretty good, buyt here goes:
The Howling Man
To Serve Man
Nightmare At 20,000 Feet
One Of Our Aircraft Is Missing (I think that's the name)
Five Characters In Search Of An Exit
Just to name a few.

A framed portrait of Rod Serling hanging in my living room is a thought I've had for a long time.

One of these days......

I hope he's holding a cigarette.

Don't know the names of the episodes, but I love the ones where actors known for their comic talents were dead serious. The one where Jonathan Winters plays pool with Jack Klugman, the one where Ed Wynn is the salesman who distracts Death to spare a little girl, and the one where Ed Wynn tries to break into a neighbor's house to wind their grandfather clock. Serling really knew how to get the most out of his actors. (And I've always wondered just how many takes it took to film Jonathan Winters shooting pool, with him unable to stop ad-libbing to crack up the crew and Jack Klugman.)

AND the one where the small town liar gets abducted by aliens (who don't understand lying) and is then returned when he starts playing his harmonica. (I wonder if Barney and Betty Hill ever watched that one.)
