Touching Evil.

The PBS Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy miniseries (far superior to the movie made years later).

Might depend on exactly what is considered British - I think its more clear cut from TV...

Some TV shows I've watched and enjoyed from Britain:

Absolutely Fabulous
Little Britain
Let Them Eat Cake
No Heroics
Downton Abbey

I'd tend to consider Snatch (fabulous film) to be British, but don't know if that's correct, or not.

Generally most Brits are easy to understand, at least on their TV shows, but sometimes some accents can be a bit thick. That, and slightly different sensibilities when it comes to humor and different terminologies or just local colloquealisms can make it difficult to follow their shows.

I'd forgotten about that show. Thanks. :)

TV Show: EastEnders. Seriously, I have no idea how this is still going with nearly 5000 episodes.
Movie: War Horse. It was created in America, but its set in Britain and most of the cast is British.

Orphan Black is a BBC America Original so it is an American show.

My favorite british film will always be Hot Fuzz.

My favorite movie based on a british book is High Fidelity.

TV:
Doctor Who (2005 reboot)
Torchwood (right up until Miracle Day)

Movies:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Lady Vanishes (I love Hitchcock)
Pirate Radio
Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz (not as good as Shaun of the Dead)

I haven't seen Downton Abby, but I've heard it's great.
I've only seen a few episodes of Sherlock, but I liked what I saw.

Yesterday, the british crime/thriller series "Broadchurch" started around here. So the chief-dedective was a bit too overacted, but beside that, I enjoyed watching it and I am interested in seeing the further episodes. :)

I'm surprised no one has added Bottom and The Young Ones, the slapstick genius of Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson can never be bettered.

The British are awesome at making movies and TV shows! They made The Railway Series (aka Thomas the Tank Engine) and are the home of Aardman (the creators of such classics as Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, Flushed Away, and The Pirates in and Adventure with Scientists!) I'm American, but I think what the British lack in quantity, they make up for in quality.
