Oak Island fans?

I became interested in the mysteries surrounding Oak Island when I was a boy.

So I was psyched when History Channel began a series of the latest treasure hunters there. I am hoping that this current team can finally resolve things there. I hate that this season's episodes are ending so soon, but I guess cliffhangers are important on TV.

Anyone else interested in the Oak Island series?

I've been watching it. They do seem to build up to some sort of discovery, but if it had been something really big I doubt that it wouldn't have leaked between filming and broadcast ... it also seems like they had a really hard time filling even those few episodes, as the explanations are inanely repetitive.

I agree. If something meaningful has been found it would have leaked by now. And I hate it when shows like this one try to stretch skimpy content to fill the broadcast time slot by repeating explanations over and over. I often get the sense that an episode's meaningful content could be just as effectively and much more efficiently communicated by an opening 60-second voice over.

I must say, though, that at least Oak Island doesn't try to up the drama factor by manufacturing hokey interpersonal conflict like some other programs do (e.g. Ax Men).

Just watched the last episode of the season online. So, a Spanish copper coin that dates to the sixteenth century (can't have been that surprising as they already had the Spanish scissors found in a previous dig) - but all the gold and silver suddenly and mysteriously disappeared ...?

And what about the coconut fibre they found earlier that is supposed to be a few hundred years older than the coin - wasn't even mentioned in the final episode anymore ...

I haven't watched Ax Men ... but I quite like Jungle Gold (only one of the Gold franchises I've watched), mainly because I used to live in Africa myself. That one too has a lot more interpersonal drama and some of it looks a bit staged. It's on the Discovery Channel, though, rather than on History. I agree, on Oak Island they all seem to get along just fine.
