Why is being an Aspie stopping you from watching those shows?

Maybe you just can't watch them because their not your thing...stop overanalyzing things.

It has nothing really to do with AS, but I can't stand most television programs, whether they are brain dead sitcoms, trashy talk shows and boring dramas. Those CSI programs give me nightmares, even though they are somewhat interesting. I tend to watch mostly game shows and sports, mostly track and figure skating.

I can watch anything I like. Even Drawn Together!

I havn't watched Sponge Bob or The Family guy, however the best Simpson's episode that I watched was the one where they did a sarcastic rip off of the old animatronic Davey And Goliath show, where Davey and Goliath were building bombs to use against the sinners. --The Simpsons is actually fairly good satire.

Have you asked your parents what it is about being an aspie that makes them think you shouldn't watch those shows?

I'm curious about that myself. I watch The Simpsons frequently, and I occasionally tune in to Spongebob as a guilty pleasure. I don't watch Family Guy, mostly because I don't think it's funny.

Almost everything on MTV. Not because I'm not ALLOWED to watch it, but because I feel like it's killing brain cells.

Its because I reapeat the bad stuff they say on the show (but that was when I was in 4th grade 4 SpongeBob).

I keep my brothers from watching SBSP... not because there's anything wrong with them, but because it's a pimple on the as*hole that is the nIckelodeon channel.

I'm like the Doctor, who pointed out in a few episodes of the new series that he "doesn't do domestics". I hate politics (so, unfortunately, a lot of CSI is out because of the politicking in the labs and the lawyers), and I rarely like embarassingly obnoxious people (so a few episodes of Bottom and a few skecthes of The League of Gentlemen, which I otherwise like, I don't watch). I could barely stand watching the new Doctor Who story "The Idiot's Lantern[/i], not because the Wire was scary, but because there was an abusive and obnoxious father character too similar to my own.....

Nickelodeon used to have such good shows like Angry Beavers. Fairly Odd Parents seems to be one of their more tolerable shows but I seriously hate crap like SpongeBob, As Told By Ginger and My Life As A Teenage Robot. Back in my days, I was more of a Cartoon Network than Nickelodeon guy. I always watched Road Rovers and SWAT Kats in the afternoon (Nowadays i'm watching them on YouTube like crazy rediscovering my childhood and all).

I'm not much of a kids show person....aside from Digimon. ahahahaheee.

I watch House, West Wing, 24 and whatnot. shows that make you think.
