I'm really looking forward to the movie The Golden Compass to come out. I absolutely love the books His Dark Materials. I only hope that they don't sugar-coat it and get rid of all of the things that made the right-wingers hate the book, which are basically the best things about it.

What do you think?

I never knew that a movie was coming out.

One can but hope that it will be done properly.

I hate it when books have their names changed, arbitrarily. Why on earth was "Northern Lights" changed to "The Golden Compass" when published in the USA?

A touch of name dropping now... I have a friend who used to work for Pullman's UK publisher. I first read HDM in a autographed set that he gave to her son.

Come to think of it, it's time I re-read them!

Cello.

Great to know that there is another HDM fan out there.

I think the potter movies are about to have a run for the their movies.

Daniel Craig? What is HE doing in this movie?

I hope that they make all three into movies. the famous kiss in book three, there's almost call for it to be a slight sexual scene. Heck, they're gonna be R rated, because of all the death, and scary scenes.

anyone who brings a child under the age of 10 to that movie I am so gonna ask them to get them and their brood out of there. No one under 10....make that 13. I read them at 13.

Did you ever listen to the audiobooks? I loved them. still do. when me uncle had cancer, we went down to visit them a lot in Oregon. we took which ever one we were listening to, and we could finish the whole book in a trip. that's how much we loved it.

I don't know much about Daniel Craig, but I'm pretty sure Nicole Kidman will do a good job. She's a good dramatic actress, despite her popularity. I'm glad that they didn't get that weird looking little girl from Charlotte's Web, that I'm thankful for.

That's really cool, about the autographed books!
That bugs me too; evidently they think American audiences are a bunch of idiots(Sorcerer's Stone, etc) but I do have to admit that the American name fits better, what with the name formula Pullman had going there.(The-verb-noun)
