So I am in an anime group and every year the group members that want to cosplay as a group IE 3 years ago they all went as naruto characters last year fairy tail this year bleach. Any who the one guy who kind of leads the cosplay asked what our thoughts were on stuff we would like to cosplay as and I said I would cosplay if it were something more real world like death note or steins gate or genshiken etc. Well he said that that wasn't the best idea cause it would just look like we were wearing our normal clothes. He also said this time and has said so in the past that "true" cosplay is if you are the character physically and mentally. Like when he was thinking of cosplays for me this year with bleach characters he was like how do you feel about shaving your head and waxing it.

The guy that does this is very nice about not forcing you to do cosplay and such but he has these views.

I was wondering if anyone else has had similar situations and what you did in them? Also what are your thoughts on cosplay perfectionism and such?

My thoughts on this is that if you like the character dress up as them and it doesn't have to be perfect. like me I love wearing my lab coat cause steins gate is a really good anime in my opinion. I would even shave my beard for a con. rintarou okabe is my favorite type of character the crazy genius.

Only younger, very pretty ladies should do cosplay.
Particularly skimpy cosplay outfits.

Sorry, but I agree with the leader of the group-----the closer to "perfect", the better. You're wearing your passion!! ! Most take extreme pride in getting it right. Also, like the guy said, your "being" should become their being. I GREATLY appreciate the effort / creativity----and even admire it!! !
