First off, let me get this out of the way: I've put anything to do with episode 121 - 131 in this post in a spoiler tag, for anyone who hasn't seen them yet, since they're new.

What do you think of Season 3? I think it's been the best Season so far
I thought the S-Class Trial was great, terrific action, having true plot related villains show up half way through, then Zeref, all the mystery, the fact that the good guys didn't win every battle and really struggled when they did. It feels like the show has matured a bit, too.
It was great to see Makarov in an actual fight that wasn't over in 2 seconds. I wish it lasted a bit longer but oh well.
I loved this arc. You got to know the characters and the Guild a lot more, the plot was really exciting and there were a lot of surprises! We learned so many things in this Season.
I'm curious to know what people think of Zeref, too. I doubt he's what anyone expected but I think it works.

I didn't like how Ultear turned out, though. She was built up from the beginning to be one of the main villains. She was manipulative, cunning, obsessed with Zeref and kinda nuts, then it turns out she just missed her mother. That was a pretty disappointing twist. I actually felt lied to.
But that could just be because I didn't like how the Exceeds turned out and it reminded me of all that.

I'm glad there is a legitimate reason why it seemed like Fairy Tail members couldn't die but for the same reason, they have a gaping weakness. Although the tree supplying them with all their magic power doesn't make sense when you've seen them have plenty of magic power before joining Fairy Tail, so why would they lose all of it when the tree is gone and not just a portion of it?

You know, Zeref's kinda like Voldemort. An evil wizard from long ago that is believed to be dead, then revealed to be very much alive but in a weakened state and his followers are trying to bring him back to full power. And there is only one person that can stop him.

The Island is a really interesting arc. I follow the original broadcast, and with the recent season starting up again I think it is episode 188 I am up to, but I do get the DVDs and watch again dubbed along with my little brother.

I like Ultear, it added some depth to her character, and she continues to be relevant. The arc did get quite emotional, Juvia has an amazing moment too. I still need volume 10 so I have not finished the Island arc yet, but I can tell you that that the next arc is a big one, it is the first major filler arc, the Daphne one being a prior smaller one, but is actually pretty good.

Yeah, adding depth to any character is good but I liked her how she was.
Like I said before, I didn't like how the Exceeds turned out and it felt like that all over again. The big bad queen was the opposite of what we were lead to believe. I was really into the plot, I thought every part of it (most of which turned out to not be true) was really interesting. And I thought the "twist" about Happy and Carla being sent to kill the the Dragon Slayers and everything else revealed in that episode was a shocking, emotional and exciting twist but then they completely ruined it. The truth felt more like a lie than a twist.

I'm glad to hear the filler arc is a good one. I haven't watched any of the new filler yet.
I liked the Daphne Arc, although it had some character flaws.
After the filler, from what I've seen in pictures (very minor possible spoiler warning), it looks like they enter a tournament. I don't want to know any of the details but if that is true, I'm very excited. Tournaments are always awesome.

It's not a character being redeemed that I have a problem with. It just happens too much. Sometimes, it doesn't really seem to fit, apart from sending a positive messages to kids, or something. Not every villain needs to have good intentions (which is why I liked Zero and Brain). Sometimes it just seems forced. But at least what happened with Ultear actually made sense and I guess was pretty reasonable after hearing the entire explanation (although, really, she could have just walked up to Ur and talked to her, instead of hating her without giving her a chance). Speaking of which, do you know why Ultear also been referred to as Ur?
I know that people always have a reason for doing the thing they do, be they good or bad, so it's not like i don't expect them to justify their actions (except Zero, of course, he just liked causing death and destruction). And I know people can be pushed into doing bad things because of bad things that have happened to them, while they may still be a good person deep down, whereas some may be changed permanently. But like I said, I feel that the villains having a change of heart at the end happens too much in this show.
But how many of the 7 Kins were able to be considered good by the end? Only 3, I think. And for once, the villains didn't just sit around after being defeated, they still tried to accomplish their goal and even got into fights again. So that was good. That's part of why I didn't like the Oracion Seis, after they lost one fight, it was like they no longer cared about what they'd been trying to do, which I think is pretty stupid.

With characters like Laxus, Juvia or Gajeel and some others, I don't have a problem with how they turned out. It's just that Ultear turned out to be so drastically different. If people like a character and then you go and completely change them... it just feels, to me, like being lied to. It wasn't just revealing more about her, it changed how we saw her completely. Maybe that should be seen as something impressive but I can't see it that way. However I'm not really too bothered by it anymore, I've gotten over it. But I do still think it sucks.

So, the DVDs have been out for a while now. Anyone else seen them?

Have to wait for a couple days for volume 10, I am Australian and all.
