I don't know if there's a topic for this already or not, so sorry if there is. But I thought it would be a good place to list and talk about the things in movies that really annoy people.

American accents: I know I'm being biased here because I'm English, but since the US is dominant over the film industry, even the films that DON'T take place in the US will still have characters with American accents, unless they are set in the UK instead. Even if it takes place in some fantasy world, or a completely different time period, it still happens, ESPECIALLY animated movies (I know that Disney does it a LOT).

Interrupted kisses:This one doesn't need explaining much. 2 people are about to kiss without even thinking about it, but suddenly, they get interrupted, and probably won't kiss properly until the climax of the film, when they finally realise they're in love.

Women:Even though they are trying to get more strong and independent females into films, I don't think there are enough, or they're not the main characters, and some may even still need rescuing at some point, usually by someone who becomes their love interest later.

Time between release dates:Some films are already out in the US, but still won't show in other countries for about a week, possibly even a month, and in some cases, several months. With the internet today, this shouldn't be happening, because there is more chance of people accidentally stumbling upon SPOILERS before they can even see the movie.

Alright, that's all I have to rant about right now, what annoys you about movies?

I thought it was funny that they forced Sam Worthington to do an American accent in both Avatar and Terminator Salvation. I can understand why Christian Bale is doing it in the Batman films and Terminator Salvation since his characters had previously been established as Americans, but Worthington was playing new characters and there was no reason they couldn't have been Australian. You'd think someone would have noticed that he can't do an American accent to save his life and told the director that maybe he should just speak in his natural voice.

-I hate how long they are. I mean seriously, there are movies that are three hours long now! They should be called buttbusters, not blockbusters.

This is one of the many reasons I almost never go to the theatre anymore.

I recently watched all four Pirates of the Caribbean movies for the first time, and I remember thinking to myself that they probably work far better this way, on home video so that you can watch it more like a TV series, an hour here and an hour there. I can't imagine trying to sit through them in a theatre.

It would be nice if directors would prepare a short theatrical cut and a longer director's cut for home video. I know we get longer director's cuts all the time, but directors keep trying to shove as much as they possibly can into the theatrical cut as well. Watching a movie at home is a far different experience than watching one in a theatre, and how anyone can tolerate more than two hours in a theatre is beyond me.

The obligatory sex/romance and violence, they can just allude to it. I don't need to see the details. I feel the same way toward graphic vomiting.

I've seen a lot of violence done well, but I've never seen a good sex scene. Every time a sex scene pops up in a movie, I'm just sighing and waiting for it to end. They're never exciting or titillating; they're just boring, every single time.

They're more awkward to me, I'm like "Nooo I don't want to see this!!" Especially when my parents are watching too >-<

Have you seen any of Mike Leigh's films? Those should cover your first three issues. "Happy Go Lucky" might be a good start. "Secrets and Lies" and "Another Year" are also quite good.

I see very few conventional movies because I get bored by conventional plots, predictably unrealistic characters and flaccid, unimaginative ideas. It's a rare film that rises above doing what most other films do.

Many films use "winning the love interest" as a major goal of the story. Usually the main character attains some wisdom as well. It's not much like real life and I tend to prefer films that are realistic.

Actually one of the things that really annoys me are big action films where an average person becomes a great hero. All of the complexities that would actually occur if the situation were real are ignored.

it annoys me that every movie has some kind of love thing going on between 2 of the characters.

Unrealistic special effects are really annoying.

Lots and lots of explosions. They're meaningless after awhile.

i hate it when adults are casted as teenagers. it just makes the depiction of highschoolers in film even more unrealistic.

also not all movies need to have romance as part of the main plot to be good.

When films are too long, like the film ''2012''.

Too much suspension, which makes the film go on for longer than needed. Some suspension is good because it makes it exciting, but when it goes on for ages, where the camera keeps swapping to different angles in the same scene, it just takes so long and it adds unnecessary time to the film.

Fathers in films who seem like they are more childish than the kids, like Tom in ''Cheaper by the Dozen''. I hate it as well when men in films are skinny with a plain T-shirt or something underneath an undone, baggy shirt. I like men in films to be a little more serious and more manly too, like a proper father if they have kids in the film, a bit like Harry in ''My Girl''.

In most films I have with teenagers in, teenage boys seem prone to being bullied and lack in confidence. Rodrick in ''Diary of a Wimpy Kid'' seem quite confident instead of sensitive and shy, but when I watched the ''Dog Days'' one, he seems to lack confidence with girls and attracts nobody, although I thought a teenage boy as handsome as I think he is, with confidence and a strong interest in bands and has his own van would attract many girls and I thought he'd get a girlfriend in Dog Days.

I find old people quite boring in films, unless their character has Alzheimer's. I don't really know why I find them boring otherwise. Mind you, I quite like the grandparents in the Chocolate Factory films, especially Grampa Joe.

I dislike when physics or common sense is ignored.

specific things that bother me seem to most deal with guns:
Gunfire doesn't sound like that
entrance and exit wounds shown unrealistically
The hero always seems to hear the bullet before it hits them. Bullets travel faster than sound.

I'm from the US. The accents don't bother me, even accents originating from other countries, unless they're extremely strong.

I also dislike romantic subplots, unless it's established that the character have known each other for a while or fell in love before the events of the movie.

I hate montages. It's not that hard to show a progression of time.

Surprisingly, I enjoy marvel superhero movies, even when the above inaccuracies or dislikes are included. Except for one thing: If the actor looks extremely different from the character in the source material, particularly in a way that would have been easy to fix.

I actually like montages, easpecially in funny/more lighthearted movies.

Also, the only thing that really annoys me about the Marvel movies is that there aren't that many women, and some of the character's outfits are less colourful and superhero-y than they should be. I get that they're trying to be more realistic, but come on, have some interesting outfits too!! I like a bit of colour and interesting designs!!
