I agree with that article about "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" being the best of the odd-numbered trek movies. It's a bit underrated and even better than Star Trek:II in my opinion.

Best is the first Star Trek movie. Little bit convoluted in terms of plot, but in keeping with the themes and concepts of the original Star Trek series. Apart from Star Trek 4 the rest of that series is just cops and robbers. The recent Star Trek reboot reprises the second Star Trek movie to an even more infantile level than the original Star Trek movie.
