As a kid, this movie gave me nightmares and their songs (then) didn't help either as it made me cry.

It doesn't help if i have autism either to avoid it to kingdom come.

When I had to watch that movie again with my friends at Williamsburg last year who praise the movie as if it's one of the best movies ever made, I had to wonder if this movie was responsible for reviving the 80s fashion in full force. That 80s flock of seagulls cut, synth pop and all.

Xanadu. nice soundtrack to an extent now growing up, but a horrible movie. Why would this movie be the hipster anthology for recommended movie viewing is like saying Dick Cheney is a peace loving hippie. The only good thing about this movie was it's soundtrack. Except for that olivia newton john/elo song 'xanadu' which as a kid, nearly made me cry cos the sounds were kinda ghostly and eerie. I grew up now so i'm good to hear it again.

This was also Gene Kelly's last movie in a leading role. Way to end an amazing acting legacy in a bad movie :(

Xanadu. :!:

If you had to watch this movie. watch it stoned. thx.

I thought you were referring to the song by Rush....

I taped that song from the video. :D

Thought it was alright at one point. I don't really remember the storyline except that she was supposed to be a Muse, and the two people started a roller-skating rink. (Was it roller skating?)

Yes it was. And contrary to popular belief, it's not a disco.

I'm a huge fan of the movie, and I completely understand everything that was going on. Kira's there because she wants to help Sonny realize his potential as an artist, and when Sonny meets Danny and learns about Danny's desire to build a nightclub, like the one he had in 1945, well, there you go, buddy.

And in all honesty, it wasn't THAT incoherent.

Before I finish up: did anyone hear they're turning this movie into a Broadway musical this summer?

I think Xanadu, which I've never gotten to sully see, was, technically,a remake of something from the Forties or Thirties.

I loved watching it when I was a kid. I still love the music, but I can't sit through the movie anymore.

True. The film was called Down to Earth, it was made in 1947 and it starred Rita Hayworth.
