Two and a Half Men FINALLY coming to an end...

In the happiest news for discriminating viewers since the cancellation of Jersey Shore, CBS has declared that 2014-15 will be the final season of Two and a Half Men. Even after Charlie Sheen woke up from rehab one day in 2011 to discover that he was a "warlock" with "tiger blood" in his family tree, followed a year later by a religious pod person taking over Angus Jones' body and rejecting the program as "filth", somehow Two and a Half Men is still slithering along.
But no longer--in May 2015, the charade is over. An 11-year legacy of pushing the limits of bad taste in the mainstream sitcom comes to a close. WB will have to find something else to air in that timeslot...which, the way they're going, will be something like 'Two and a Half Women' starring Lindsay Lohan and some Siamese twins. If they need more time to put that together, perhaps they can do a one-time special, 'Courtney Love Reopens Al Capone's Vault'. Or found footage of the four Warner brothers turning over in their graves.
Yeah, I'm in a bad mood today.
No offense intended to anyone who found something to enjoy in this show. But it did nothing for me at all and I am baffled by the amount of awards it won for its alleged comedy when it never made me crack a smile and, in the case of Sheen's character, simply repelled me. What do you think about 'Two and a Half Men' finally coming to an end?

I loved Two and half men when Charlie was in it, but not so much after he left (well, died). It just wasn't the same without him, so if it ends now I don't care that much. The first 8 seasons were hysterically funny, and along with "How I met your mother" and "Friends" is the funniest sitcom I've ever seen, and those three also have the greatest re-watch value. They are so funny, even for the umpteenth time! I'm glad it didn't end when it was awesome!
Man, now I wanna watch it again!
I don't get why so many here seem to hate those shows. Well, to each their own... *shrug*

I liked the show in its early seasons. I remember the one where Alan couldn't sleep and everyone says "Why don't you just take a pill?", and he argues how people think every little thing can be solved by just taking a pill. Even his psychiatrist tells him to take a pill and actually admits it's her job to make people take pills for whatever's wrong. I can relate to that SO much. But then the shows just got more stupid and more gross to the point that I don't know how anyone who doesn't have less-than-a-half brains can stand it.
(bolded by me)
I think that's the point of the character. He is supposed to be a selfish unrepentant drunk and cheater. I can't really think of any good qualities the Charlie character had. Same with his mom, she is always a harpy. I think the earlier episodes were funnier than the later ones, because Charlie slowly became a more "normal" person, more boring.

I don't know. I want to say it was just a really bad drug-induced phase he was going through at the time, but who can say for sure what's going through his mind at any moment?
That's the problem. Sheen's character and his mom were two very obnoxious, maybe even reprehensible characters. It seemed like the writers just assumed that would be comical on its own: show two horrible people being horrible, and in comparison to the less horrible characters on the show, somehow they'll be funny. I didn't make the connection.

Don't be baffled. The Emmy's, Oscars, Grammy's, et al. are nothing more than industry self-promotion. They literally give themselves awards as a way to make you think how great they are. Ok, so its not like CBS themselves gave the show awards, but a trade association of which CBS is one of the dominating members gave CBS awards. Anyway after they do it, they advertise stuff as "winner of 10 emmy's!" or some such nonsense. Even if you can look past the industry giving itself awards, the collective taste of the voters for these awards, if not subjected to politicking and undue influence, is questionable at best and outright awful at worst - it almost always degrades into a popularity contest rather than an honest evaluation of the work in question. Plus what is glossed over is that very few of them actually watch more than one episode per year of the shows they were voting for. Even though, for instance, "Two and a Half Men" may be nominated for "Best Comedy", its not the whole season of the show that's nominated (even though the format of these awards shows make it seem that way), its actually a specific episode that is nominated, then the voters supposedly watch that one episode of Two and a Half Men and the one nominated episode of each of the other shows and then make their decision based on that. Same for all the other categories too - each show only submits one episode for each category, or for individual awards each actor/actress has one episode submitted (so if a show has two actors for best supporting actor, they may not both necessarily submit the same episode of the show).
In any case, except for Big Bang Theory I don't really watch any sitcoms any more and haven't for ages, but every now and then when I watch an episode of a random one its the same old formula-based garbage. I don't think sitcoms have really changed since I started watching them 30+ years ago. Yeah, the underlying stories change but the mostly dull jokes and situations stay basically the same.
Never took an interest in the show one way, not the other.
But then I discovered that someone I knew watched it religously. That person being my 80 year old mom. Not the audience I would expect for an edgy raunchy show like that.
Scratched my head- and then figured that women must like it because it makes fun of the other half of the human race (hense the title). I dunno.
Caught the tail end of one Sheen era episode once. It was kinda funny. Ok.
