What do you think of the 1960s musical " HAIR " , and its 1979 movie version ?
I am listening to various songs from it as I write this now ~ Most people on the " rock " side tended to consider it dumb/explopitive , while it seemed to be more respected on the stage-people side...
I am listening to the movie's versions of the songs ~ I tend towards a New York area snobbery of feeling " when there's a stage musical that had a movie version , generally , the stage version's cast album is superior to the movie soundtrack as an audio experience " , but anyway !

Like most Broadway cast recordings, the vocals are much better. Film soundtracks owe a lot to the visuals which sometimes demand different vocals.

Hair is a fun recording. Unlike most musicals since then (Andrew Lloyd Webber), it doesn't rely much on repetition of its musical themes.

I've seen the movie. Lots of music.
