Q.

Thoroughly fun B horror movie from the early eighties. A small time thug discovers the nest of the Mayan winged serpent god at the deserted top of a skyscraper. After dispatching his overbearing partners to the creature, he gets arrested. So he figures he can cut a deal with the cops and the city of New York, enriching himself before revealing the location of the flying menace that had been preying on New Yorkers. Maybe the last time stop-motion-action had been used as a special effect in movies.

Groundhog Day.

I saw this because it was recommended to me. In the end, it wasn't my cup of tea at all. It was cute, just not for me.

Rage

2016 Japanese crime thriller/romance/drama/mystery. In the end, it was nothing more than a cinematic cryfest. Cry, cry, cry. That's what was on display, kind of like an Asian Midsommar. Pathetic waste of time. Two hours and 20 minutes I'll never get back.

Dead Even

aka Method.

A film released in 2004 and shot in Romania. It stars Liz Hurley as an actress (Rebecca Fairbanks) who plays the part of the female serial killer Belle Gunness, who allegedly murdered dozens of male guests in her Indiana house in the early 20th century: Rebecca becomes possessed with Belle's spirit, and starts to carry out murders of her own - or does she?

Well, this takes the Art House movie cliché of a film within a film, and produces almost as bad a result as its template. 'Almost', because it's usually not possible to end up with as boring an end-product as the auteurs. Liz, a pretty naff actress herself, plays a naff actress returning to the fray after some sort of breakdown. "She's gorgeous", says one of the minor characters. "Yes," says her friend, "but she can't act". LOL.

I can't agree with the overall verdict of the IMDB reviewers, most of whom pan this mercilessly. Yes, it's not great, but it's certainly watchable and pretty good for laughs if nothing else.

I enjoyed it. I went to the theatres to see it back in 2004. Still enjoy it.

I posted in another thread that I downloaded it as a comedy , I only found 3 things funny ( that I remember ). I'd score it a 7/10 , I've watched some real s**t this year so it made a nice change. Washington gave a solid performance ( can't wait for Tenet ) and it's the best thing I've seen Driver in since The Report.
