Beyond The Dunwich Horror.

Rather disappointing, low budgeted horror movie based on the classic Lovecraft tale.

I enjoyed the film very much. It was very good.

I'm waiting for this one. I liked the movie it was based on (a man called Ove) quite a bit.

Spawn.

Valentine's Day present I got for my wife. She loves superhero movies, even the goofier ones.

Terrifier 2.

My wife's Valentine's day present to me. While gory, it's hardly the vomit inducing movie it had been billed as. Unlike the original, it's very much a horror/comedy, with Art the Clown being both funny and horrifying when he goes on a murder spree a year after his first rampage. And for those who had seen the original: yes, he does come back to life.

I was in a strange mood on Sunday and watched:
Fantastic Planet - I wasn't on any mind-altering substances, so the whole movie just seemed odd.
House - This was one of those campy horror movies from the 70's that had me scratching my head several times.

Hoffman (1970)

Stars Peter Sellers and Sinead Cusack. The plot seemed familiar after about 20-30 minutes, and sure enough it turned out to be a remake of a 1967 TV play I reviewed here about a year ago, namely Call Me Daddy featuring Donald Pleasence in Sellers's role.

Sellers plays a company executive, Mr Hoffman, who blackmails a secretary, 'Miss Smith' (Cusack) to be his 'sex slave' for a week. Hoffman initially comes over as a creep and even a bit of a pervert, which he may well have been, but the relationship between the two gradually changes in a way I can't properly describe or explain, and the film has a most unlikely ending.

Some people say this was Sellers's best film, others might find it unwatchable.

Last night we finished watching our way through the View Askewniverse.

We enjoyed re-seeing the earlier movies:
>=- Clerks [1994]
>=<->=>"Just Because They Serve You... Doesn't Mean They Like You." [trailer]
>=- Mallrats [1995]
>=<->=>"They're not there to shop. - They're not there to work. - They're just there." [trailer]
>=- Chasing Amy [1997]
>=<->=>"It's not who you love. It's how." [trailer]
>=- Dogma [1999]
>=<->=>"Prepare Thyself." [trailer]
>=- Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back [2001]
>=<->=>"Hollywood had it coming" [trailer]
>=- Clerks II [2006]
>=<->=>"They Still Don't Like You. In Fact, They Like You Even Less." [trailer]

And watching the newer additions to our collection:
>=- Jay & Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie! [2013]
>=<->=>"Jay and Silent Bob get drawn out of retirement."

>=- Jay and Silent Bob Reboot [2019]
>=<->=>"Weed Love To Tell You A Story..."

>=- Clerks III [2022]
>=<->=>"They're too old for this shift."

I recommend all of them. Even the weaker ones contribute to the big picture...which is excellent, and strange.

Note: Kevin Smith is responsible, one way or another, for the whole thing...and he plays "Silent Bob" with a real-life friend of his playing "Jay". And they really are into comic books and comic book movies, both of which get many references in these movies. (And his real-life daughter is named Harley Quinn Smith!) Plus, he must be a nice guy because if you look at the cast lists for the movies a lot of actors voluntarily return to play parts in several of his movies (the "explanation" is often that the different characters they play are related and that's why they resemble each other).

Oh, and he had a serious heart attack in 2018 and that also finds its way into the movies.

Last night I watched:

The Mummy's Hand [1940]
<=>"The tomb of a thousand terrors!"

Adequate. Nothing special but OK.
