World War Z.

Nothing beats 28 Days Later in this genre.

Rogue One is the best new Star Wars movie. I watch it more than any of the other new movies.

I watched Excalibur last night. Simotanuesly an accurate yet bombastic telling of the whole Arthurian legend. 6/10 film with 8/10 moments, needs patience.

Two Way Stretch (1960)

A group of convicts plans to get their hands on a large consignment of diamonds in transit to a UK port. The first half of this film is set in a British prison, and bears an uncanny resemblance to the mid-1970s sitcom 'Porridge', so much so that I felt sure that the creators of the latter had used the film as their inspiration. Stars Peter Sellers, Bernard Cribbins, David Lodge and Liz Fraser.

A Man Called Otto
Surprisingly a good movie with a few twitches. Trigger warning though.

The Woman King
I was a bit disappointed. Last year I watched a Nigerian movie, Amina that has a similar setting and vibe. I expected more from an American film.

Cocaine Bear (2023) at the theater.

I would describe this movie as one third comedy, and two thirds horror movie. The comedy leans towards absurdist human nature dark comedy. I enjoyed it, and am thinking about seeing it again.

Two nights ago I watched:

Phantom from Space [1953]
<=>"WHAT was he?"

Poor guy.

Crashes on Earth. Earthlings attack him because he is so different, and invisible.

Movie is okay...if you are okay with low budget 50's science fiction with little story.

R.i.p. Wes Craven.
