NBC's "The Today Show" just announced that the new "Ghostbusters" remake, will have an all-female cast, to include:

- Melissa McCarthy

- Kristen Wiig

- Kate McKinnon

- Leslie Jones

Great cast, so far!

The movie's IMDb page doesn't really say much:

One more data point proving that Hollywood is out of ideas.

Does anyone know if the story line is essentially the same as the original film?

I wish Tina Fey were in it, and maybe Amy Poehler.

They were initially going to make the third movie out of the original cast by Ramis. Now Hollywood has gone mad and wants to make it into one of those movie sequels where everyone is replaced, the times have changed (due to the big gap between films) and often times results in a flop and/or something most fans of the original movies hate and think should never have been conceived.

Yeah, it seems remakes almost never work-out.

True - straight remakes often don't make it. Case in point: I like the STAR TREK reboot, but a lot of people aren't that crazy about it.

A "next generation" thing would have made more sense for GHOSTBUSTERS - like the ladies could be the originals' grad students or something.

I remember at MegaCon a couple years ago talking to one cosplaying as one of the Ghostbusters about how a third movie could have been made.
We were thinking about the potential of an actual sequel and not a complete all-female remake.

I love Ghostbusters but I really can't stand Melissa McCarthy or her idiot anti-vaxxer cousin for that matter. The fact she's in it utterly ruins any chance it might have had.
