I just read a rumor on comicbookmovie.com that actor Tyrese Gibson is being eyed for the role of Green Lantern for either the Justice League movie in 2017, the Green Lantern movie in 2020 or both. Seeing as how Gibson in African American, I guess that means we'll be getting John Stewart. Not that I'm against John Stewart showing up or anything but I and I'm sure a lot of other people will agree with me would really love it if it were Hal Jordan. But it is just a rumor after all but in my experience rumors can be true. I really am hoping for Hal Jordan.

So they're trying to resurrect Green Lantern after that flop?

^^^ Why wouldn't they? They rebooted Superman soon after Singer's movie flopped. Also, Geoff Johns decade long run on Green Lantern was a great success for DC and it produced some epic storylines like the Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night...

Anyways... I wouldn't mind seeing John Stewart as GL in the movies. He hasn't always been the most interesting character in the comics, but he kicked ass in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited on TV.

However, I'm pretty sure we'll get Hal Jordan in the movies and/or on TV. All the GL references in Man of Steel and on The Flash have been Ferris Air related--Carol Ferris was in MoS and The Flash does all his field training at a Ferris Air air strip on TV...

There's also been a rumor about a CW TV movie featuring a Flash/Arrow/GL team up. If that happens, I would bet money that they will use Hal Jordan. Hal and Oliver Queen have EXTREMELY strong ties in the comics.

My only concern is that the studio philistines would only focus on the fact that the first movie was a flop.

I would be REALLY suprised if they had anyone but Hal Jordan. Thats like having Damian Wayne as Robin (ok i might be over reacting a little.) Hal is the one everyone knows, and is the one they could most easly market, at least that is the way WB will see it.

There's a chance they'd go with John Stewart, to get points for casting a black guy as the protagonist in a superhero film. I don't think the Green Lantern is as well known as Superman and Batman, so the writers have leeway to try out new things.

I'd want them to acknowledge the Ryan Reynolds film. Maybe Hal Jordan can explain the set-up to John Stewart before getting hit by a wooden bus, or going off to do some secret business in space. I'm reasonably certain that Reynolds would be a good Green Lantern if he got a good script.

I want the DC film franchise to go well, and eventually culminate in a Crisis on Infinite Earths film. They could treat every film based on a DC property as a parallel universe. So we could have several Batmen played by Adam West, George Clooney, Christian Bale running around and beating up their respective Jokers. Maybe the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern would hook up with the Halle Berry Catwoman, over common feelings of inferiority. I get excited thinking about it, but I'm drifting from the thread topic...
