any "coast to coast" listeners here? that is a program syndicated by premiere networks, hosted by George Noory on several hundred radio stations in north America, and it's main subject matter is the paranormal [UFOs, alternate dimensions of reality, sasquatch, conspiracies et al]. I just wanted to know if there was anybody besides me who was a regular listener, is all :alien:

I listened to it a whole lot when I was younger and had nothing better to do. Back when I was living with my parents and had no money, and later when I was living with my sister and still had no money and also no TV set. Sipping vodka and listening to the entire four hour broadcast every night was basically a ritual on the weekdays. I liked how they basically allowed anybody and everybody on the show: they would interview respected scientists and then take calls from crazy conspiracy nuts who think the world is run by lizard people. It was good stuff.

I abandoned it, though, for a couple of reasons. First, I got my own income and could now buy all the books and movies and TV shows I wanted, and I frankly had better things to do with my time. Second, the quality of the show took a nosedive. The original host, Art Bell, said he wants nothing to do with the current version of the show, and I understand why. If I ever listen to the show again, I'll find old recordings online rather than listen to what's being broadcast now.

I wish I could say that I am a regular listener. But, because of its broadcast times, I miss much of it. I need to get in the practice of listening to it the day after its broadcast.

I had read last week on its web site that it maintained an archive of past broadcasts. I just looked into it in more detail and learned that the archives are only available to "Insider" members for "$6.95 each month, $29.95 for 6 months or $54.95 for 12 months." There is also a YouTube.com fan channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzx7D- ... g9ymR0k29g , but it is separated into its various topics. Hm. I guess that I will try to make sense of the YouTube.com segments.

As I go to a lot of concerts, the vast majority of the time I listen to 'Coast to Coast' is when I'm driving home from somewhere between 1-3 AM. It's always enjoyable whenever they talk about more overtly paranormal stuff, but lately, more often than not, their shows are about decidedly political topics and that doesn't interest me much at all.

asked my brother about it, he has been a listener since the art bell days in the 90s. he got himself a time-delayed tape recorder that automatically tunes in @ 10PM and records on a 1/4 speed cassette tape [no real fidelity loss on AM radio but not suitable for FM] that with a 120 minute audio cassette can record the whole 4 hours. waiting for them to come out with a chip recorder. just thought of an alternative, if you have an old NTSC VHS-HIFi videocassette deck, just hook the headphone output of a radio up to its RCA input jacks, then set it on "sync recording" and program the timer for 10PM, and with the radio just left running on its headphone output [speaker muted] you can record it that way, on the LP or SLP speed. when you play it back, you will hear the broadcast in perfect fidelity.

on the subject of politics my local broadcaster of coast to coast [KIRO-97.3 FM] on almost every half-hour station break, introduces a most odious political ad by a company claiming to sell fine coins, but the jerk doesn't bother plugging any actual coins in his "commercials," he just heaps calumny on democrats for 60 nasty seconds. I don't know how that can be legal. but I have to jump up and hit the mute button when that happens. IMHO that is BAD BUSINESS to deliberately insult a large segment of his potential customer base every night ['cept for weekends, thank GOD!].

I caught it occasionally, I'm pretty sure that was back when Art Bell was the host. Most of it requires a saltshaker but there was definitely the occasional indicator of plausibility.

I used to listen back in the days of Art Bell. But, I gotta say, I'm not a Noory fan at all...

However, he did produce one of my favorite quotes ever: "Bigfoot my well be an alien, because... remember Chewbacca?"

I actually heard him say that live on the air.

I still stream old Art Bell shows on TuneIn when I'm going to sleep.

He did briefly revive his show on sat radio last year, but ran into legal problems. I think he plans on coming back again in the next year or two.

art bell had the right laid-back vibe for this sorta thing IMHO. Noory I too much the carnival pitchman/smooth radio baritone sharpy for this sorta thing. he kinda reminds me of Arthur Godfrey.

A friend told me about it in the 90's.

And I started to listen to when I have been able at the wee mourning hours.

Was quite entertaining.

But yes- has to be taken with a pillar of salt!

Havent listened much during the current post Art Bell era though.

The website is quite entertaining as well.
